Forum Adventures: From Mysteries to Bad Beats
Coming straight from the jungles of PokerStrategy.com forum, your faithful guide Fishdiana Jones brings you another edition of all the things you shouldn't miss out on. From true stories on nickname creations and titty men in moderator ranks to handling ever so disturbing luckboxes, you can find it all in here.
"Dorood" everyone! Not sure if I pronounced it correctly, but dorood is apparently one of many ways to say hello in Persian. In case you're wondering where did that come from to my attention, it came from that direction -> new member's introduction.
Just as promised last week, I'm bringing you a package of goodies from all parts of the PokerStrategy.com forum. Below are some of the things that caught the attention of many PokerStrategists - and by all means, don't hesitate to venture beyond these topics, because the forum serves as an endless source of knowledge and entertainment, and I've just begun exploring it.
Names come from different places

| What's the story behind your identity? |
From naming your son Bam Bam to Sage Moonblood Stallone (that's Rambo jr. in case you're wondering), human race has gone a long way from its beginnings. Accordingly, there are thousands of different names out there and the fun part is that most of them have some story or a meaning behind them.
eaglestar88 decided to find out more on names and nicknames of fellow PokerStrategists and opened a thread just for that purpose. Game of the topic is to provide three definitions of your real name, nickname or PokerStrategy.com user name - whichever you prefer.
In translation, you get to find out which one of the moderators refers to himself as titty man, who made a typo when creating a PokerStrategy.com account and from what parts of the universe did some people get inspired to create their nicknames.
What to do against hot runners?
![]() |
| You luckboxing on me? |
Yep, it's one of the most annoying sights at a poker table - fish running so hot nobody seems to be able to catch them. And just when you think you'll be the one to bust them with your newfound pocket kings, the board twists your hand backwards and turns it into a measly pair against hot runner's river flush with 7-4 off suit - or something similar to that and equally painful to witness.
yvonnejansen had an encounter with such a hot runner in an SnG and couldn't help but wonder, what is he supposed to do against an opponent who seems to be in a "god mode", consistently sucking out on everyone at the table? Should he just put on a blindfold and wait until the bubble is burst or do something about it?
PokerStrategy.com coaches advise keeping to the standards of your play and not minding "hot streaks" too much, because fish giving bad beats to four opponents in a row doesn't mean you're the next in line.
Following the logic that what goes up, must come down, some PokerStrategists advise using the good old turn off god mode cheat code which worked soundly in Doom game series. Similar ideas followed shortly after, though you might consider practising typing those in front of the mirror before entering the fray of poker battles and trying it on some of your fishy opponents.
Censorship in poker
Pulling a tiger by its tail is not exactly a smart thing to do - nevertheless, krishjanis did the equivalent to that in poker. He made a special image just to use on PokerStars tables, however, the staff there wasn't overjoyed to see his artwork. For more info on his uniquely offending image, go below:
I hope you enjoyed reading through the fruits of my search for the past week and I'll see you all next week when your faithful guide fishdianajones hopefully digs up even more interesting topics and latest happenings.
