News: Column: Bet Turn for Free Showdown (3)

In the previous part, MiiWiin shed light on situations in which you bet the turn with the initiative to see a free showdown. This week he will put his focus on spots in which your opponent has the initiative.

After the previous part of this column introduced you to spots in which you could 2nd barrel the turn with the initiative, we will now focus our attention on situations in which you are on the turn and can choose between a free card and a value bet after your opponent checked the turn.

There are different things that might have happened so far:

Villain raises preflop, conti-bets the flop and checks the turn.
Villain raises preflop, checks the flop and checks the turn.
Unraised pot, Villain checks twice.

The article focuses on the first two scenarios, since an unraised pot is too marginal and your opponent will usually not have a hand there.
