MSS Behind the Scenes - Why and How
Following the announcement of our brand new Middle Stack Strategy, we're carrying on the step-by-step roll-out by letting you know how it was developed and what the structure will be. Read on to keep in touch with this exciting development.
Why was there a need for MSS?
With the recent changes in the regular tables on most poker rooms rendering the Short Stack Strategy difficult or even impossible to play, a demand for a new strategy was apparent. The MSS is an approach that enables the user to play with a 40BB stack, meaning you can play on higher limits with less risk more easily.
If you are a former SSS player and are looking for a strategy with a similar approach, if you are new to poker, or simply like the idea behind the strategy, this might be something for you to take a look at.
How we did it
The new MSS Basic was initially developed based on the theoretical work and field experience of our Russian coaches and MSS players; in particular our coach izograf, who provided us the base foundation for the strategy. We have taken this material and put it into the PokerStrategy.com forge, where it was molded and sculpted with the help and feedback of our German MSS coaches, such as aaltvater, who provided valuable input in the adjustment of the ranges and post-flop lines.
The strategy was then adjusted and tailored further to fit the widest range of our members so as to be suitable for beginners, and also those who want to switch to this strategy from another one.
The content of the strategy was carefully calculated by our educational staff, and adjusted according to the real-life experiences and tests of our coaches and high-level members. This process was of course a very rigorous one, but the time invested should assure the best quality material for our existing members and newstarters alike.
Will I be able to adapt easily?
The structure of the new MSS Basic tries to provide a very accessible system for those interested in trying it out right away – a new approach to visual representation of the material via graphs and charts aims for an easy learning curve, while at the same time presenting all the necessary information in a clear and concise manner with as little loss of information as possible.
The new pre-flop charts enable the player to enter the hand favourably, where the post-flop chart then minimises the difficult decisions, while maximising the profits that can be extracted from the different situations.
