The nomination was a joint nomination between English news editor and Pokerstrategy.com, recognising both our news coverage and content as a team, and also Carter's work as an author and twitter user.
The Amateur Poker Association & Tour (APAT) is a long standing poker tour based in the UK & Ireland, who last night held the awards during their World Championships at Dusk Till Dawn.
The award was determined by public vote.
After accepting the award, Carter commented:
"I am delighted to win this award, especially because I think APAT are an amazing organisation who don't get enough credit for the role they played in the advancement of live poker in Europe."
"I know my name was singled out as an individual in the nomination, but this really is an award for everyone at Pokerstrategy.com. I've never worked with a more talented group of people before and if what I do is popular, it's entirely because of the hard work and support of my colleagues."
Pokerstars picked up best online poker room and Dusk Till Dawn won the best live card room. You can see all the winners here.
