PokerStrategy.com: Hi double2, introduce yourself to the community!

double2: Hi, my name is Pedro, I'm 27 years old and I'm Portuguese. My main occupation is working in a Hospital as a Medical Doctor, I'm currently doing my residency in Neurology.

I play 200NL, an average of 2 hours a day. It's a bit difficult to balance the two jobs, but I'm really proud that I can do it successfully. And I guess it shows it can be done, you can have a full time job and play poker and still take it as far as you really want.

PokerStrategy.com: What does it take to beat NL200?

double2: Well, I guess the main thing is to have "work ethic". You really need to sit down, establish goals and figure out what exactly you're going to do to achieve them.

If you do this correctly, you're good to go. For me the essential step was finding some really good poker coaches and listening (or reading) what they had to say, again and again, about the game.

PokerStrategy.com: Ring games or fast poker?

double2: I'm currently playing on Zoom. It works best for me given my limited time. But I do think fast poker is the best way to improve your game, since it lets put a decent volume and still have few tables open, so you can really focus on playing your A game and improving. I think it's a mistake to be a 25NL grinder and play sessions with 9-10 tables open, how can you improve this way?

PokerStrategy.com: What draws you to hand evaluations?

double2: I like talking about Poker, and the hand evaluation forums are a great place to do it. It was one of the main "tools" I used to improve my game. If used wisely and repeatedly it really can help you.

My suggestion would be to post hands with very common spots instead of "interesting" spots where Hero gets check/raised on the river. Knowing the answer to that question is gonna have almost no impact in your winrate. Quite often discussing the flop cbet range in that same hand is a lot more productive.

PokerStrategy.com: What can our members expect from you in the future?

double2: I think my main value to the community is trying to help people getting out of the micros. I am not Uri Peleg or Internet, but I am motivated to help members struggling on NL10-NL100 and hopefully I am as good as I think I am at explaining Poker.
