Do we value bet on this Turn?

Our opponent shows weakness but does this mean we can value bet against his range?

Today we have another hand from NL50. Hero flops well, but does he have a value bet against his opponent? Let's find out and start from the beginning.

It all starts as standard play against a raise from UTG who is a tight player opening some 12% range from early positions. Our Hero hits well on the Flop, but something unsettling happens next. Villain checks giving up the initiative, so he must have his reasons for this. After all, the board is not really wet, and straight draws would have more reasons to c-bet on this Flop. Hero decides to investigate. His bet is simply called, and we can't draw any conclusions just yet.

The Queen on the Turn also looks suspicious, but Villain keeps checking. And here comes the big question; do we have a value bet in this spot? Sure, he showed weakness twice, so maybe it's better to proceed with value betting. On the other hand, we should consider his range. Anyway, time for you to decide.

Let's consider three options. We could check back the Turn and simply call his River bet, that is in case we put him on slow play with better hands. Or we could decide to extract some value from his AK and AQ hands. Should we look for fold if he check/raises us on the Turn? Let's get on the case!

Last week's results

Last week we offered you a 3-way high stakes poll and received 943 votes in total. There was a couple of exceptions but check won, starting from 45% in Hungary to 52% in our French community.

The second most popular option, all-in bluff, follows closely behind. In Poland it gained as many votes as the check and even won in our Portuguese community with 42%. But Italian users have an entirely different opinion. They preferred betting 1/2 of the pot in 43% of the cases thus giving this option a prime spot.
