APPT Macao - Dinh Le wins the Main Event

The Main Event of the APPT Macao just ended. Some of our PokerStrategy members, who were able to qualify, took also part in the tournament.

Due to the strong demand, the number of participants was raised to 330 regulars. The waiting list additionally provided the opportunity for 30 members to take part in the 2.500 dollar main event. The PokerStrategy members present were crackin, redcow, Tobsen and JonasJordan. You can also find a thread regarding this event in our forum.

Crackin was eliminated on the third blind level. He was unfortunate to sit at a difficult table, which John Juanda also shared. He is still in good spirits, however, and would now like to take part in the $15.000 High-Roller Event and the $540 Freezout Event #2.

Jerry Yang was not part of the game. The winner of the WSOP Main Event 2007 was held at San Francisco airport because he did not have a valid visa for Hong Kong. Jerry Yang is considered stateless and hence needs a visa for any country he is visiting during his travels.

Last week there was a discussion about raising the minimum age to enter a casino in Macao to 21. Macao has the largest gambling revenue in the world - even before Las Vegas. Their gambling revenue was 7 billion US dollars. Las Vegas earned about 6 billion US dollars in revenue. The largest casino in the world opened in Macao this year. The "Venetian Macao Resort" contains 850 game tables, more than 4000 slot machines, and it employs 15000 people. Since the world has become increasingly aware of Macao, they now want to raise the minimum age to 21 in order to further improve Macao's reputation.

Dinh Le wins China's first international Poker tournament

The tournament was a complete success. 352 participants accumulated a price pool of $809.600 in the Main Event. There was a unique, oriental atmosphere, perfectionized by drums, gongs, and a dancing Chinese lion. The APPT Macao was a special and maybe even the most important tournament held in the last few years. Being the first large international tournament in China, it was an important turning point. Due to the Poker breakthrough in China, nothing seems to be in the way anymore.

Dinh Le is the winner of APPT Macao's Main Event. Our PokerStrategy members did not win. Din Le was able to win at the final table after playing against players like Joe Hachem, Liz Lieu and Bertrand ‘ElkY' Grospellier for 8.5 hours. He beat Ivan Tan heads-up and won $222,640.
