WSOP honors Chip Reese

The untimely death of poker player Chip Reese shook the poker scene. Doyle Brunson referred to him as the best all-around player.

This came after Reese's win at the 2006 $50,000 HORSE event, the first to take place at the World Series of Poker. His heads-up match against Andy Bloch lasted seven hours, making it the longest in WSOP history. He won his other two bracelets in 1978 ($1,000 Seven Card Stud Split) and 1982 ($5,000 Seven Card Stud).

From now on, every winner of the $50,000 HORSE Championship at the WSOP will be awarded, in addition to the cash and bracelet, a “David 'Chip' Reese Award”, to remember this great player.

Jeffrey Pollack, Commissioner of the WSOP, called Reese a “true gentleman” and described him as the most successful mixed cash game player of all time.
