LAPT Costa Rica - HoRRoR Chip Leader
After the first day of the PokerStars.net Latin American Poker Tour in San José, Costa Rica, our coach and Pro-blogger André 'HoRRoR' Wagner is leading the pack.
The success of the LAPT also continues at the second event. Again, more players than expected by the organisers wanted to participate. Like in Brazil, the cap was at 300 players: But due to the rush it was decided that overall 398 players could join.
With a buy-in of $2,500 the participants thus created a prize pool of $965,150 - the winner takes home the impressive sum of $274,103!
Leisure time for the pros and the Germans
Along with several Germans, which were already exploring Costa Rica in the past days with HoRRoR, some Team PokerStars pro players also travelled to San José. Daniel Negreanu, Isabelle Mercier, Victor Ramdin and also the local matador Humberto Brenes already dropped out on the first day though. Only the Brazilian André Akkari is still in the race as a short stack.

Marko 'infinity1000' Neumann already dropped out of the tournament in the third of ten played blind levels after a pre-flop all-in with pocket jacks against AJ.
For 
Mathis 'metmaster2' Nehring
it didn't look that bad until just before the end. Then he went all-in with 99 on a 642 board, got called by QQ and finally bowed out.
HoRRoR from the bottom to the very top
Things were even better for 
Andre 'HoRRoR' Wagner. As the first player he broke the 100,000 chips mark and finished Day 1 as chip leader with 129,400 chips.
But he definitely did not get off to a dream start. Immediately at the start he lost several pots and his starting stack of 10,000 chips shrunk to barely 4,000. Here the most important hands:
After a limper and a MP3 raise to 200, HoRRoR re-raises to 600 with AKs from the SB and gets called. He makes a bet on the AT4 flop
and gets called. On the turn another 4 appears and 3 diamonds are on the board. He decides to play check/call. The river comes with a blank and the opponent makes an all-in overbet. HoRRoR folds his hand and the opponent later confirms his assumption that he held TT!
After working his way back up to 20,000 chips, HoRRoR flopped a full house with 88. On the turn he raises on the 8226 board and his opponent pushes all-in. André calls, is ahead against KK and doubles up.
Later on, he again clashed with a further big stack: When HoRRoR got top two pair on the turn with A9 on the A829 board, and his opponent didn't fold AQ, he took over the chip lead for the first time. And he didn't let it slip away again, but instead collected several pots as busy as a bee.

Michael 'FleischWesen' Scheer is also present on the second day and will return to the table with 25,875 chips.
Overall, 85 of the 398 players survived Day 1 and will enter the second of three tournament days today. 32 of them will finish in the money. Here are the chip counts, the payout structure and pictures which HoRRor made available:
