Event 2 with Record Number of Participants

The second event of the WSOP, which is also the first No Limit Hold'em Event of this year's Series, immediately busted every previous record for number of participants.

Over 3,500 players were already signed up for the $1,500 NLH Event. 2,048 players rushed into the Amazon Room of the Rio Hotel and Casino on Day 1A. For Day 1B, 1,550 registrations have already been counted and it's possible that the field reaches the cap of 4,000 players. The previous record number of participants for a "non-Main Event" was at 3,151 players.

Johannes Strassmann survived

Johannes Strassmann, a German participant, also made it into Day 2. With 32,400 chips he's in the middle of the field and still has every chance for the further tournament. None of the other German players survived the first day, though.

Again many Celebrities eliminated on Day 1

Similar to the first event, several famous players also had to leave their seats on the first day of the second tournament. Amongst others, Daniel Negreanu had to join the rails early on, where he eventually enjoyed the company of Johnny Chan, Freddy Deeb, Antonio Esfanidiari,
Phil Ivey, Men Nguyen, David Sklansky and Gavin Smith.

David Robertson Chip Leader

The American, David Robertson, secured the chip lead with 110,000, whose only notable cash finish was a 126th place in last year's $1,500 No Limit Hold'em - Six-Handed Tournament of the WSOP.
