Belgium Poker Championship 2008: The Netherlands Grab The Title
One of the biggest European poker tournaments ended on Sunday. The Dutchman Sijbrand Maal took the title and €315,875.
During nine days, the battle was on for a one million Euro prize money in the Casino Namur, which was host to the fourth edition of the "Belgium Poker Championship" this year. The participants paid a buy-in of €1,500 + €150. The casino offered a great supporting programme with different cash games, and the option for the players to book an all-inclusive package, including hotel and catering for the nine days of the Main Event.
This year, the title went to the Dutchman Sijbrand Maal (picture on the left), taking €315,875 back to the Netherlands. Irishman Colim O'Brien is able to call himself vice-champion, earning him €202,980 in the process.
