The Doyle Brunson World Poker Classic kicked off a few days ago, with known faces joining both days 1A and 1B, including the Godfather himself, Doyle Brunson.

- 203 PLAYERS JOIN DAY 1A TABLES -

Day 1A brought 203 players to the tables, including known faces such as Doyle Brunson, Phil Helmuth, Will Failla, John Pham, John Juanda or Nenad Medic.

The one to be leading the field of 150 survivors, after Day 1A was Phil "Poker Brat" Hellmuth, who accumulated 188,150 chips. Gary Gibbs finished second, having a stack of 169,075, while Clonie Gowen placed third with 162,550.

Many well known pros managed to get past Day 1A. Some of the big names who still are in the race include the likes of Mike Matusow (113k), Phil Ivey (83k), Barry Greenstein (76k), Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (63k), Doyle Brunson (60k), Ivan Demidov (37k) or Eli Elezra (34k).

DAY 1B BRINGS 294 PLAYERS TO THE TABLES

WPTWith Day 1A over, Day 1B began; even more players showed up - 294, to be precise, including poker pros Daniel Negreanu, Patrik Antonius or Tom Dwan. However, only 150 made it to Day 2.

Paul Niemela took the lead for Day 1B survivors, as he took the table by storm, eventually reaching 266,775 in chips. Day 1A's chip leader, Phil Hellmuth, will start Day 2 in second place, since his stack was significantly smaller - only 188,150.
