WPT Invitational: Deeb Wins Freeroll

WPT Celebrity Invitational is a rainbow tournament, if it can be
described that way. It features a wide range of poker players,
including top pros, brightest stars of Hollywood, supreme athletes and
many more. They all gathered for the $200,000 freeroll with only top
six resulting in a share of prize money.

The play resumed on Monday with the televised final table. Two notable
names of the poker world were still in the tournament, namely Freddy
Deeb and Scott Clements. One last celebrity, Nick Gonzalez, was keeping
them company and with Ottavio Tassone as the shortest stack the final
table was ready for action.

Gonzalez and his pocket aces opened the hunting season as Jose Tavares
hit the rail with his A-Q, thus ending sixth with $5,000 in prize
money. Clements wasn't about to just sit and watch others have fun, so
he charged in with his pocket eights which proved to be fatal for
Ottavio Tassone and his K-J. This move gave Clements the chip lead and
finished Tassone's run who had to settle  for fifth place and $10,000.

Chip lead is a tricky business, especially if you're seated next to
likes of Deeb. Both Deeb and Gonzalez took a turn doubling up at
Clement's expense which sent the now former chip leader down to the
short stack role. Clements eventually decided to get back to the top,
going all-in with A-9 against Tom Hall's A-3. The board came 3-3-2-J-2
and that was it for Clement who earned $15,000 for the fourth place.

Action was down to the final three and after 31 hands it was Hall to
finish in third place and take $20,000. His Q-J fell short against
Deeb's pocket sevens as the board came Q-7-5-5-2. It took just one more
hand to decide the tournament.

Gonzalez moved all-in preflop for 1.25 million and Deeb called as he
had a healthy stack of 6.85 million. It was Gonzalez with his A-6
against Deeb's pocket eights. The board revealed J-7-3-6-K and offered
no help to Gonzalez, thus sending him home in 2nd place and $50,000.

Deeb took $100,000 and his second WPT title, which gives him more than $6 million in career tournament winnings overall.
