PokerStars
has recently announced that it would host the first ever Ante Up For
Africa Europe Celebrity Poker tournament which will take place on April
27, just a day before the PokerStars EPT Season Five Grand Final Main Event.

Ante Up For Africa tournaments have been featured at the World Series
of Poker for the past two years, all with the purpose of raising money
within the poker community for the humanitarian mission in Darfur,
Sudan.

What Ante Up For Africa and PokerStars are hoping for is that events
such as the upcoming third annual Ante Up For Africa tournament will
bring more attention to the crisis in Darfur and help fund the work of
charities that provide aid and assistance to the survivors in that
region.

and Resort in Monaco. A field of celebrities and poker pros have
already confirmed their attendance, including Team PokerStars Pros Daniel
Negreanu, Vanessa Rousso and Joe Hachem.

All of the prize money from the PokerStars Ante Up For Africa Europe
tournament will be donated to help the survivors in Darfur and support
activism dedicated to resolving the crisis. In addition, PokerStars will award the winner of the tournament with a special prize package to PokerStar's EPT event in the Bahama's in January, 2010.

The Ante Up For Africa event was quite successful over the past two
years, with the final table of the inaugural event in 2007 featuring a
deal between Dan Shak and Brandon Moran that they would award both the
first and second place winnings to the charity. Last year's event was
no different, as John Hennigan won the event and gave his entire
$169,000 winnings to Ante Up For Africa.

Founded in 2000, the provider PokerStars is counted amongst the
veterans of online poker. Based on the number of members, it is also
the biggest provider to date. PokerStars became known and popular due
to its large offer of tournaments and small limits, which also enables
newbies and amateur players to enjoy the game. Thus, the poker skills of
the average players and opponents at PokerStars are considered rather
limited.
