Face The Ace To Air In August

Not long ago, NBC announced that it will bring a new poker-based TV show called "Face the Ace", where online qualifiers are held to find opponents for professional poker players.

The show is being created by Poker PROductions, who also produces other successful TV items such as Poker After Dark.

In order to get into the show, players must create a Full Tilt Poker account and qualify via online freerolls hosted by the poker room. There are three freeroll steps:

• Face the Ace Freeroll - Round 1: winners move on to Round 2.
• Face the Ace Freeroll - Round 2: winners move on to the Final Qualifier.
• Face the Ace Freeroll - Final Qualifier:  top 10 finishers win a trip package to Las Vegas

The qualifiers are almost over, with the last Final Qualifier tournament set to take place on Monday, the 3rd of August, at 21:15. The Vegas prize package includes paid air expenses for two, hotel accomodations at the Golden Nuggets, $500 in cash as spending money and the chance to appear on the Face the Ace.

The official press release talks about the concept behind this new poker show:

 "Contestants will select a pro from behind four smoked-glass doors and the contestant and the pro will play heads-up no limit Texas hold'em for $40,000.
If the contestant wins, he can keep the $40,000 or play a different pro for $200,000. If the contestant wins the second match, he can keep the $200,000 or play a third pro for $1,000,000. Win a third match and they take home $1 million. If the contestant loses at any point, he walks away with nothing.
The poker pros won't be laying down either, as each match they win secures $10,000 for their charity of choice."

The show itself will premiere on Saturday, the 1st of August, at 21:00 ET and  The Sopranos' Steve Schirripa will be hosting it. However, NBC will air the first episode again in the following Saturday at the same time.
