New World Record for Longest Live Poker Session

Under the flag of the WSOP Europe in London, the British poker pro Paul Zimbler broke the record for the longest recorded live poker session by playing non-stop for almost 75 hours.

Every big event host likes to collect world records; the WSOP and its European pendant - the World Series of Poker Europe in London - are no exception to this rule, even if it's just about the official world record for the longest live poker session.

For more than three days, the British pro Paul Zimbler faced anyone in heads-up - if they were willing donate a minimum of £10 to the 'Make-a-Wish' foundation - and broke the old record of 74 hours and 12 minutes.

With exactly 74 hours, 20 minutes and 21 seconds, he raised the bar by more than 8 minutes. Over the course of his exhausting deed, the likes of Doyle Brunson (who opened the session with Zimbler), Phil Hellmuth, Annette Obrestad and Mike Matusow (who was the last of a whole 183 players) faced the Brit in a heads-up match.

In an impressive feat, he managed to defeat 102 of his opponents and thus demonstrated a formidable stamina. The real winner of this event was the 'Make-a-wish' foundation though; they were able to collect donations amounting to a total of £35,000.
