WSOPE: final table featuring stars
The final nine players of the WSOPE main event are confirmed and the line-up reads like the who-is-who of the poker world. Involved amongst others are: Jason Mercier, James Akenhead, Daniel Negreanu and Matt Hawrilenko.
The WSOPE main event was riddled with pros and so this year's line-up of the final table at the European main event will be one of the toughest final tables for a long time.
Daniel Negreanu alone brings four bracelets to the final table and even as a shortstack, the Canadian should always be reckoned with. Featuring the English pro Praz Bansi, the online pro Matt Hawrilenko alias Hoss_TBF, Jason Mercier, James Akenhead and such established players as Barry Shulman at the final table, it won’t be an easy task even for "The Kid" to win a bracelet.
Doyle and Bücherl dropped out
Doyle Brunson was eliminated yesterday, ranked 17th and therefore still has to wait for his 11th bracelet to win. The godfather of poker players put in his chips with Q-9 and was called by Akenhead with A-K. For his achievement he was rewarded £32,198.
Previously, the last German hope of the tournament Konstantin Bücherl was sent behind the rails. Preflop, Bücherl pushed all in holding K-K, Jason Mercier called with A-J offsuited and hit via runner-runner four spades and the flush. Hitting rank 21 Bücherl cashed £25,918.
Other top-class players who fell by the wayside yesterday: David Ulliott (rank 35), Men Nguyen (26.), Yevginiy Timoshenko (25.), Arnaud Mattern (23.), Ram Vaswani (15.) and Eric Liu (10.) After all, the former English football pro Sheringham came in 14th and thus supports his good results from the WSOP in Vegas.
