David Williams Joins PokerStars

2010 World Poker Tour champion David Williams has recently signed with PokerStars, according to his agency Poker Royalty. Williams also has one WSOP bracelet and close to $8 million in career winnings.

Poker pro David Williams (pictured right) has recently joined the likes of Daniel Negreanu, Barry Greenstein, Joe Cada and Chris Moneymaker, as he signed a deal with PokerStars, the world's largest poker room.

Williams, who was a former Magic: The Gathering player, switched to poker in 2000 and had Team PokerStars Pro Marcel Luske as mentor.

Almost $8 million in winnings so far

In 2004, he finished second in the World Series of Poker Main Event, winning $3.5 million, his largest cash to date. A few months after this, he would finish in second place again, but this time in the $10,000 WPT Borgata Open for a payout of $573,800.

Two years later, he won a WSOP bracelet after taking down a $1,500 Seven Card Stud event for $163,118. In April 2010, he won the $25,000 World Poker Tour Championship and cashed $1,530,537 for his accomplishment.

Overall, the young pro managed to bank almost $8 million. To celebrate the deal, PokerStars will hold a media reception in Las Vegas on July 6, where two other pros will be present: 2009 WSOP Main Event winner Joe Cada and NAPT Mohegan Sun champion Vanessa Selbst.
