News: 2011 WSOP: How RobbieV Took 7th Place in Event #34 [Interview]

RobbieV made his 2nd final table of the 2011 WSOP, and after a wild ride, finished in 7th place for $62,873. If you missed all the action, here's your chance to find out how the final table played out. Congrats RobbieV!

Team PokerStrategy.com member Robbie 'RobbieV' Verspui is having quite the World Series this year.

Shortly after a 2nd place finish in Event #13, a $1,500 Shootout, RobbieV now has a second WSOP final table to his name.

Unfortunately, he was unable to improve on his previous 2nd place finish. He finished Event #34, a $1,000 No Limit Hold'em tournament, in 7th place.

The tournament had 3,144 entrants, so making the final table is a very impressive feat.

Day 3 of the tournament began with 27 players, all with their eyes on the $488,283 first-place prize.

After several hours of solid play, RobbieV reached the 10-player unofficial final table 5th in chips.

The final table began with 2 players very quickly busting. Just a few hands after Jeremy Kottler exited in 9th place, RobbieV was the victim of a bad beat which left him extremely low on chips.

A player opened to 65,000 and Justin Cohen called behind him. From the big blind, RobbieV raised to 185,000. The opener folded and Cohen moved all-in.

RobbieV snap-called and showed . Cohen had . The board ran , giving Cohen a flush to suck out.

After that hand, RobbieV was down to just 125,000 chips- barely four big blinds at that point.

He doubled with vs. , and doubled again when his beat . After each of these hands and with antes eating away at his stack, he found himself with about 11 big blinds.

RobbieV shoved over a middle-position open and was called by Mark Schmid, who held . The board helped neither player, and Robbie doubled again to 1.2 million chips.

Unfortunately, what seemed like a fairytale comeback was ended mostly due to a brutal cooler. Andrew Rudnik opened a pot for 125,000, and RobbieV 3-bet all-in. Rudnik called instantly and tabled .

RobbieV's did improve on the flop, but the turn and river never provided the extra help he needed to crack Rudnik's aces.

Left with barely 100,000 chips, RobbieV was forced to move all-in on the following hand. His was met by an . The board ran out , and unfortunately his run was over.
