Main Event
The elusive dream of reaching the November Nine has never been more real for a number of Pokerstrategists. Last night we witnessed the 342-strong field at the Main Event finish with just 142 hopefuls.
Of those 142 players, 7 Pokerstrategy members remain with Sebastian Ruthenberg AKA miamivice leading the way with 3,354,000 in his stack. We wish all the guys the best of luck for Day 6 - Make sure to keep up via our WSOP Main Event Ticker!
Party time?
Bwin.Party have been revelling in latest results which have seen PartyPoker establish itself as the second largest online poker site behind PokerStars following the shutdown of Full Tilt Poker.
Efforts to grow acquisitions have been helped by temporarily waiving tournament fees and cash game numbers have seen a dramatic spike with 1,246 new average real cash players recorded over the past two weeks, meaning a 35% increase in player numbers.
Nazgul places 6th in Venetian $5k Main Event

Nazgul who reached the final table of the $5,000 Venetian Main Event, finishing 6th for $69,000! Nazgul wrote on his Facebook update – "finished 6, really total run bad @ ft lost pretty much everything...but now happy to go home in like 4 hours!" Well played Nazgul!
Full Tilt Poker claims lawsuit deadline passed
On the 26th July all eyes will be on London where the Alderney Gambling Commission will undertake their hearing with troubled poker giant Full Tilt Poker to discuss the future of their operating license.
There have been a number of rumours surrounding a potential consortium of European investors, although nothing has been announced publicly.
At midnight on Friday July 15th, the deadline passed for US players looking to file claims against Full Tilt Poker in order to recoup monies owed. The Poker Players Alliance have recommended against US players filing claims for their balances; last week we heard that customers from BetOnSports had started to receive checks following claims submitted 5 years ago, and this may have encouraged a number of players to address their grievances to the US Attorney's Office.
Hellmuth predicts 15,000 at next year's Main Event
Fresh off the back of a remarkable 2011 WSOP, Phil Hellmuth jumped straight into the commentator's booth last night for ESPN's live coverage of the championship event.
The Poker Brat spoke optimistically about the prospect of regulation happening in the United States sometime in the next year and remarked that online poker would see a dramatic resurgence in numbers in a similar vein to the results in France and Italy.
Hellmuth went on to predict that we will see 15,000 players in the WSOP main event next year, following regulation. We hope he's right, as by our estimation next year's WSOP champion would collect a juicy $20,000,000!
