Another day, another bracelet on eBay

A World Series of Poker bracelet is a precious commodity. The gold bracelet has come to symbolise one of poker's hardest accomplishments, or so it seemed.

In recent years there have been a selection bracelets for sale; TJ Cloutier's WSOP bracelet was spotted on eBay in 2010 after he had pawned it to a Texas pawnshop. It eventually sold for $4,006. Paul "Eskimo" Clark's 1999 Razz bracelet fetched $4,050 and most famously of all, 2008 WSOP Main Event winner Peter Eastgate sold his bracelet for a hefty $147,500 to a mystery bidder. 

The latest player in a long line of bracelet sellers is 1991 WSOP Main Event champion Brad Daugherty. Last month was the second time Mr. Daugherty's bracelet has appeared on eBay after it failed to meet its reserve in 2010.

There has been speculation through the poker community over Daugherty's financial situation after the bracelet failed to meet its reserve again this time round. Gambling911 report that the '91 champ who now resides in the Philippines had claimed he wanted to sell the bracelet to help "homeless kids and people living in poverty".

PokerStars continuing to thrive

An interesting article in today's EGR magazine points to PokerStars unsurprisingly being the main benefactors of Full Tilt Poker's prolonged absence from the online poker landscape.

Joel Keeble reports that PokerStars has been "weathering the storm" since Black Friday and emphasises their dominance in today's market. Keeble believes that "with the liquidity gap increasing in favour of Stars it is difficult to see how other operators can close the divide". 

According to H2 Gambling Capital, "Tilt had approximately 7,000 players participating in Ring Games and a further 6,000 registered for Tournaments at the time of shutdown on June 29th". Within one week of the shutdown, it appeared that PokerStars had picked up 27% of FTP's traffic and it has continued to thrive over the past month.

It hasn't all been bad news for 'Stars competitors though; according to the article "more cautious players have moved to listed sites such as Party and Ongame, where they wait longer for a game but payouts are guaranteed". 

APPT/IPT news

Unfortunately PokerStrategy coach Jackson chenny8888 Zheng's great run at the APPT ended last night. Jackson took home $36,700 for 8th place when his KQ couldn't hit against 44. Congratulations on another top performance! Just three players remain at the time of writing with New Zealander Phil Willcocks still leading the chip counts.

Meanwhile over in Sunny San Remo, the final table of the IPT is set to commence shortly. Romanian Dan Murariu leads the way with 3,079,000 chips and is followed by PokerStars team pro Luca Pagano with 1,886,000.

Viktor Blom interview

Railbird favourite Viktor "Isildur1" Blom speaks up in an interview with Bluff Magazine today. Blom charts his rise to the highest stakes tables and talks about winning $3 million off durrrr and then losing $5 million in a session to Brian Hastings and co.

Blom shrugs off the loss, claiming "after a little while I didn't think about it much". He doesn't speak fondly of Hastings, Cole South and Brian Townsend, referring to the fact he thought "they were angle-shooting, and cowards".
