More events, new formats, rumours quashed, and a seven figure buy-in tournament - it is the 2012 WSOP schedule, which has just been officially announced.

2012 WSOP Schedule Higlights

• 61 events between May 27 - July 16 - Three more events than last year.

Rio to expand - An additional 92 poker tables will be added to the Rio this year to accommodate the action.

October Nine - Rather than delayed until November, the final table will take place one week earlier, between October 28-30. This was something of a red herring by the WSOP, who had us all speculating that the final table delay itself would no longer be delayed.

• New formats
- Lots of new formats have been included in the schedule this year. We have a four handed event, a re-entry event, and a mix-max event (nine handed on day 1, six handed on day 2, heads-up on the final day).

There is also a PLO/NLH heads-up event, and most intriguingly, an 'ante only' event. This is where nobody posts small or big blinds, but everyone posts an ante each hand, from the very beginning.

• $1 million buy-in - We knew about this already, but on July 1 the series will play host to the biggest buy-in tournament in history, the 'Big One for One Drop' event.
