Mad Martin Joins the Party

Marvin wants to party hard

Tony G hinted at it earlier in the week and after the cards went in the air at this year’s $25K WPT World Championship, Party Poker officially announced the signing of “Mad” Marvin Rettenmaier.

Rettenmaier’s is well known on the European circuit and in his three year live career the 25 year old has already bagged $1,696,556.

Supporting Marvin in his role as Party Poker ambassador will be Tony G, Mike Sexton, Kara Scott and Bodo Sbrzesny.

Commenting on his new comrade, Tony G said:

“It is great to have Marvin on board; I have always said he is a player of true character.

He has the Germanic mathematical game and he has heart, he is winning, he gets drunk, he loses his passport – he is also running good. He needs my guiding hand. If anybody other than my son John Eames was to get a deal it would have to be Mad Marvin.”

WPT World Champs

The WPT’s pinnacle event kicked off yesterday with a plethora of big name players handing over $25,000 for a shot glory.

With registration open until midway through Day 3 the official numbers won’t be confirmed for a while, but yesterday’s turnout saw 103 players start and 98 make it through to Day 2.

PokerStrategy.com’s JonathanLittle finished the day in 11th place, but it was Steve O’Dwyer who topped the chip counts with 231,750.

Dominant Deeb Destroys SCOOP

It’s arguably one of the greatest online performances in history and one that will certainly cement Shaun Deeb’s reputation as one of the best MTT pros ever.

In the last 24 hours the man from America has taken down his fourth SCOOP title, his fifth overall. The latest notch on Deeb’s already bourgeoning belt came in Event #38.

84 players tried to stand in Deeb’s way at the start of the H.O.R.S.E. event, but when the cards had finished falling and the chips were scooped the outcome was inevitable.

Indeed, having witnessed Deeb’s dominance over the past two weeks, Jon “LUFCBas” Spinks said after their heads-up battle: “obv got HU with @shaundeeb and we all know what happens from there... #bendoverandacceptit.”

With another $46,325 in the bank it’s impossible for Deeb to lose his spot atop of the overall SCOOP leaderboard.

Moreover, with the Main Event due to start today we could see yet another epic performance from the Series’ hottest player.

Löser Wants to Lose

PokerStrategy.com’s Manig swordfish007 Löser has just completed the first week of “Sorel Mizzi's Fitness Challenge”.

Despite a wedding and some deep runs in PokerStars’ SCOOP, the German pro has made good progress in his bid to drop some pounds and win the personal tuition of Mizzi.

One of his secret weapons has been Insanity Workouts. According to Manig: “If you've never tried it, that shit is crazy, seriously.”

High Stakes Corner

“Phisherman36” topped the high stakes leaderboard with a modest profit of $78,046, yesterday.

Indeed, a relatively slow day at the virtual tables saw Alexey “LuckyGump” Makarov rake in the second largest haul with $76,174, just ahead of “Domce” who made $69,765 in just 372 hands.

At the other end of the spectrum, Ben “Sauce123” Sulsky had the roughest day at the felt. The American lost $73,802 over the course of 1,368 hands, which was slightly more than “0Human0” who dropped $72,012.
