Sulsky sinks Haxton

Sulsky finally wins

It took over 13 hours but when the chips had finished flying Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky finally emerged as the winner from his All-Star Showdown semi-final match with Isaac Haxton.

The blinds started at $50/$100 but, after a thousands of hands and very little between them, the antes eventually escalated to $100/$200 then $200/$400.

The added juice soon put the pressure on both players and after taking down Isaac on three tables, Ben managed to scoop the remainder of his opponent's chips after a total of 4,207 hands.

Having dispatched with yet another tough opponent Ben can now take some time to rest while Phil Galfond and Daniel Cates battle today for the last place in the finale.
 

Dutch poker classic

Amsterdam's Holland Casino

Amsterdam's Holland Casino will play host to the Master Classics of Poker from today. With a host of top European poker talent expected to attend, including Lex Veldhuis and Matt Perrins, the festival promises to be a feast of high quality poker action.

Now in its 21st year, the event is one of Europe's best loved tournaments due to its exceptional structures and fantastic value.

On offer this year will be a €5,000 main event as well as a €10,000 high roller tournament. For those with smaller bankrolls there are a series of smaller events, with buy-ins ranging from €150 to €1,000, and for the action junkies there's a PLO event with unlimited rebuys.

The first tournament kicks off today and the action will run through until November 10th.

Mickey's winning year

Mickey "mement_mori" Petersen finally achieved his potential in the live arena this year after taking down the EPT Copenhagen in February.

He followed that up with a win at the English Poker Open for £78,660, but if he had the choice he'd stick with online poker.

Having made a name for himself at the virtual felt before transferring his skills to the live tournament circuit, Mickey has been talking to the PokerDeck about his preference for online poker, how approaches tournaments and who the community should be looking out for in 2013.

During the interview he mentions that Calvin Anderson is someone to look out for and that he's "getting really hooked" on hyper turbo heads-up SNGs.

Twice as nice

Double vision will be affecting the poker community tomorrow as PokerStars will be hosting not one but two incarnations of its most popular Sunday majors.

This will be the second time the site has ran a promotion like this and if you're a tournament grinder the chance to bank some serious money will be better than any other Sunday.

On offer will be two Sunday Kickoffs, two Sunday Storms, two Sunday Warm-Ups and, most temptingly, two Sunday Millions.
 
Across the eight tournaments there will be $3.8 million on offer, something which should prompt a massive surge of action at the felt.

For those that don't quite have the bankroll to enter all the tournaments, PokerStars are running a series of satellites today with a special Double Vision Sunday satellites for all SilverStar+ players.

High stakes corner

Bad times for Ilari

"Patpatman" has topped the high stakes chart in the last 24 hours with a profit of $221,344. The unknown grinder managed to scoop the table-topping haul over the course of just 585 hands.

Also running well was "Odd_Oddsen" and "kimokh" who banked $150,500 and $72,877 respectively.

One player who isn't enjoying the reality of variance at the moment is Ilari Sahamies. After enjoying a huge upswing over the past two weeks, the Finnish player hit a large bump in the road yesterday.

Over the course of just 587 Ilari managed to drop $435,227; an amount which was almost $300,000 more than Sam "tr1cky7" Trickett who lost $142,564.
