PokerStars put its hands in the air
After glinting on the horizon like a leprechaun's pot of gold, PokerStars' 90 billionth hand finally dropped last night and showered those involved with cash.
Over the last week every one million hands has prompted a payout, which culminated last night with a bumper bonus for six lucky players.
When the hand ticker eventually hit the magic milestone it was $1/$2 six-max table "Ornamenta" that enjoyed a moment of calm before the celebrations began.
A succession of all-ins pushed the pot up to $1,688, but it was the lion's share of $229,630 that everyone had their eye on.

Messages of congratulations filled the chat box as the mid-stakes grinder banked a total of $66,380, leaving the rest of the table to bank at least $14,000 each.

Beauvois leads WPT Mazagan

Day 2 in Morocco's Mazagan Beach Resort came to a conclusion, yesterday, and when the totals had been counted it was Clement Beauvois who was leading the WPT event.
81, of the initial 146 players who entered, returned for Day 2 and after just two levels that number had almost been halved.
Steve O'Dwyer was one of the men leading the way, but the pace soon caught up with him and by the end of level six he was watching from the rails as Beauvois closed the day out in front.
A chasing pack of 24 players will be hot on the heels of Beauvois today, with European hotshots Fabrice Soulier, Guillaume Darcourt and Gaelle Baumann all posing the greatest threat to his chances of scooping the $168,207 first place prize.
High stakes corner
"P" was the letter of the day yesterday as "patpatman" produced a profit of $182,987.
It took the online grinder 1,059 to amass a table-topping score and leave "Bttech86" ($84,696) trailing in their wake.
Barcode grinder "1Il|1Il|1il|" fell into the red yesterday after dropping $106,677 over the course of 4,317 hands.
The loss placed them just ahead of "KPR16" who saw $100,784 disappear from their bankroll.
