Shorr closes PCA with a win

As Vanessa Selbst lifted the $25,000 High Roller trophy, the final event of this year's PokerStars Caribbean Adventure was also coming to a conclusion.

With 39 tournaments completed, the attending players' final chance to boost their bankroll came in the form of a $10,000 Turbo 6-max event.

The online-style format attracted a number of familiar faces, including Mickey Petersen, Dani "Ansky" Stern, Daniel "djk123" Kelley and Shannon Shorr.

With virtual grinders at every turn the handful of satellite qualifiers in the field were looking "extremely uncomfortable" according to Stern.

Predictably, the shortened levels meant the final was reached relatively quickly and, after Stern and Shorr agreed to a four-way chop worth $160,000, the two pros were left to flip for the trophy.

With skill being traded for luck, it was Shorr who eventually took the title when his connected with the board.

PKR's 3D software is now available for iPad users across the UK.

Recognised as having the most in-depth poker interface in the world, PKR has finally completed work on an app that will capture all their unique features.

Incorporating cash games and Sit & Go tournaments, the app will form part of PKR's new mobile games suite.

While the initial launch has been restricted to UK customers, there are plans to extend the app's availability in the future as well as introduce Multi-table Tournaments.

Commenting on plans to increase their mobile coverage, PKR's COO, Leon Walters, said they aim to "quickly follow this first phase" with iPhone and Android versions of their software.

The Heartland Poker Tour has gained a lot of momentum recently, with the likes of Greg Raymer becoming a four-time champion on its circuit in 2012.

Indeed, such has been their surge in popularity that the organisers have taken steps to improve their tournament structures.

In an effort to ensure they got the best advice on the subject, the HPT's Executive Producer, Fred Beville, enlisted the help of Daniel Negreanu.

Drawing on his years of high level tournament experience, Daniel believes the changes he's introduced will create a "smoother structure" for players.

Daniel's influence on the HPT's overall structure will no doubt help its reputation as one of the premium mid-stakes poker tours in America.

Sabic steals a profit

With Phil Galfond taking a break after his $1 million win on Sunday, the path was clear for Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky to return to the top of the high stakes leaderboard, yesterday.

The American grinder has suffered a $2 million downswing since the start of the year, but he managed to block that out of his mind and reclaim $353,278 over the last 24 hours.

The win put him just ahead of Sebastien "Seb86" Sabic ($324,172) and Gus Hansen ($222,221) who also enjoyed profitable days.

Continuing his recent dip in form was Viktor "Isildur1" Blom. The Swede finally quit his latest session after dropping $577,555.

The major loss is his second in two days; however, despite losing over $1.5 million recently, his yearly total is still an impressive $3,505,083.
