WPT Barcelona Begins

The World Poker Tour's bandwagon sets out its stall inside Barcelona's Grand Casino today.

Offering players a €3,500 Main Event, the five day festival is expected to attract a host of talent, including the like of Daniel Junglemandan Cates (pictured right), Toby Lewis and Tony G.

Romania appoints online regulatory body

Romanian regulation

Romania has become the latest European country to appoint a national governing body for online poker.

Although gambling legislation was passed in 2010, the country was unable to implement any changes because it required an organisation to oversee the online industry.

However, following the recent creation of the National Gambling Office, the 2010 regulations can now be put into practice.

For online operators this means they will need to apply for Romanian licence. Moreover, for players, the new laws mean they could face up to two years in prison if they are caught grinding on an unregulated site.

As yet it's not clear which providers will apply for a license, but with strong penalties for those who contravene the new laws, it's likely many of the major sites will comply with the new guidelines.

Sick setups

Having heard tales of players with multiple monitors and deluxe recliner chairs, PokerStars has decided to offer thousands of player points to the sickest online poker setups.

With entries currently flooding in from all corners of the poker world, players are being encouraged to upload an image of their grinding station via Instagram using the tag: #starssickestsetup.

The top ten entries, as voted for by PokerStars Team Online and community members, will be awarded 50,000 FPPs each.

If you want to take part then you need to get your entry in fast as the deadline for submitting your setup and gaining votes is April 7 at 23:59 ET.

In case you missed it, Brazilian footballer Ronaldo has become the latest high profile signing by PokerStars.

Having enjoyed a glittering career on the football pitch, the former FIFA World Player of the Year is now looking for a new challenge at the poker table.

Joining the likes of Rafa Nadal and Boris Becker, Ronaldo will take part in various media campaigns as well as poker tournaments across the world.

High stakes poker

More money for Blom

Any concern for Viktor "Isildur1" Blom's recent dip in form will be completely forgotten following yesterday's online action.

Having endured a handful of tough sessions earlier this week, Blom made an emphatic statement last night by scooping $1,743,122.

The mammoth win came courtesy of Ben "Bttech86" Tollerene and a 1,900 hand session at the $500/$1,000 PLO tables.

Following the match Blom's annual profit hit $4,065,079, while Tollerene saw his overall profit drop from just under $2 million to $774,673.
