Three days of merging chip stacks and grinding has brought Event 1 of the WSOP APAC to a close. After starting the day with the chip lead, Bryan Piccioli held his nerve throughout a tough final table to claim his first bracelet and AUD$211,575.

Having made his way past more than 1,000 players, Piccioli eventually claimed the title when his Ac8d overcame the pocket tens of Jonathan Karamalikis. Indeed, as the board ran out: 9d4h3h5d2s Piccioli scooped the final pot the first WSOP APAC title.

While Piccioli lifted the first trophy of the festival, PokerStrategist Marvin 'xcrash154' Rettenmaier was making his way to the PLO final table. Despite having one of the shortest stacks at the end of play, Rettenmaier will go into tomorrow's final with a great chance to scoop his first WSOP bracelet.

In addition to Events 1 and 2, the Mixed Event kicked off with a wave of famous faces at the felt. Daniel Negreanu, Phil Ivey and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier were all in contention as the action developed and Brandon Wong hit the top of the chip counts at the close of the session.
