PokerStars' bid the purchase the Atlantic Club Casino appears to be over following a recent court ruling.
Lawyers for PokerStars parent company, the Rational Group, attended a court hearing yesterday to determine whether the ACC had the right to cancel the deal.
After agreeing to purchase the ACC and its assets, Rational paid around $11 million to keep the casino afloat whilst they waited for their interim casino licence to be approved.
However, because the interim casino licence hadn't been granted before April 26, the deal was declared dead by the ACC.
Rational disputed this and successfully imposed a court injunction to prevent the ACC selling to someone else, but were unable to sway the judge in yesterday's hearing.
With ACC officials claiming they couldn't afford to wait for Rational to get state approval, the judge decided that they could legally walk away from the sale.
Commenting after the hearing, PokerStars' Eric Hollreiser tweeted: "RE TODAY'S NJ HEARING: We are reviewing today's ruling. We remain committed to New Jersey and to contributing to its economy."

In the last 24 hours it's emerged that Jamie Gold is selling his 2006 WSOP Main Event bracelet.
An entry on Heritage Auctions shows the diamond encrusted bracelet Gold was awarded along with $12,000,000 following his Main Event win.
After his win Gold lost a $6 million legal battle with Crispin Leyser but continued to travel the poker circuit with his winnings.
However, a lack of tournament results and some crushing cash games sessions conspired to eat away at his fortune.
Indeed, in recent years Gold has played far fewer tournaments, something which has prompted speculation that he is broke.
Bidding for the bracelet will commence on July 13.
WPT World Championships begin

The poker room inside the Bellagio will be awash with pros today as the WPT's finale gets underway.
The $25,000 event will round off a season which has seen the likes of Matt Salsberg (pictured right), Paul Volpe and Paul Klann battle for the Player of the Year title.
Flanking the $25,000 Main Event will be a $100,000 Super High Roller rebuy which is expected to attract a slew of famous faces, including poker's latest Super High Roller champion: Max Altergott.

Phil "OMGClayAiken" Galfond bounced back from his recent downswing to top the high stakes leaderboard with a profit of $615,526 in the last 24 hours.
Galfond was almost able to erase the $741,097 loss he suffered on Thursday, moreover, he was able to finish yesterday's session ahead of Tom "durrrr" Dwan ($470,786).
After their $1 million+ wins earlier in the week, Gus Hansen and Viktor "Isildur1" Blom finished as yesterday's two biggest losers.
While Blom saw $260,533 disappear from his bankroll, Gus topped the leaderboard with a $444,420 deficit.
