WCGRider dominates nosebleed battle with 'Denoking'

PLO grinder 'YaAaRnY' falls short in crazy $300k prop bet and a seven-figure swing for Gus Hansen.

He may have lost his epic Pot Limit Omaha prop bet and some hard earned cash in the process, but British grinder Bren 'YaAaRnY' Lenton certainly won the respect of the poker community with a brave fight that went right down to the bitter end.

At the back end of August, Lenton bet $100,000 that he could win 100 buy-ins at stakes of $5/$10 PLO or higher on PokerStars in the space of just one month. There were pleny of takers on 2+2 - including the likes of Ike Haxton - who bet a combined $200,000 in favour of him falling short.

Lenton had them all sweating vigorously a few days in when he reported that he'd already raked in an incredible 35 buy-ins. But high stakes, mass multi-tabling PLO variance would soon bow it's vicious head - in one particularly swingy session he lost and then won back 40 buy-ins - and Lenton, despite at one stage looking odds on needing to win less than 20 buy-ins with a week left, would ultimately fall agonisingly short.

All was not lost, however, as amidst the prop bet chaos, Lenton somehow managed to grind a few tournaments, and netted an impressive $55,500 for finishing second in WCOOP Event #27.

High stakes round-up

Polk

Most of the noise at the nosebleeds over the last few weeks has been generated by a titanic heads-up No Limit Hold'em battle between Doug 'WCGRider' Polk and unknown Swedish high roller 'Denoking'.

The two have each exchanged several hefty blows, but Polk landed the biggest punch yet last Friday when he won $736k of the Swede's money in one session.

'Denoking' replied with a $308k win on Monday, but Polk took almost all of that back with a $278k win on Tuesday.

Polk is now up $318k in September, but sits just outside the top three performers of the month so far. 'Denoking' meanwhile - despite losing almost $1m in a week in September - is close to even for the month, and nowhere near Gus Hansen at the top of the losers column:
