Dutch grinder breaks Supernova Elite speed record

24-year old Martin 'Quadchrazs' Ardon conquered the 1M VPP target on PokerStars faster than anyone else in poker history.

Back in 2011 when Andrew 'azntracker' Li managed to clinch Supernova Elite on PokerStars in only 59 days, we thought it was a record that would remain in tact for quite some time.

Then two years later when British grinder Ryan 'MouldyOnions' Bell managed to earn the required 1M VPPs in an astounding 53 days, we thought it would be a record that may never be broken.

However, a further two years down the line and the poker community has already crowned a new speed king - 24-year old Martin quadchrazs Ardon - who reached the landmark status in 52 days this year.

Ardon specialises in hyper turbo Sit and Go tournaments at the $100 buy-in level or higher, and was averaging around 1,000 of these games per day.

In all, he played nearly 50,000 games and just shy of 1,000,000 hands; at his peak, he managed to generate 35,000 VPPs in a single day.

"I could have got there faster..."

Ardon's (pictured right) achievement in itself is admirable to say the least, but the fact he could've done it considerably faster is absolutely incredible.

"I intended to reach it by February 15", he told the PokerStars Blog. But I got stomach flu, so had to do some smaller VPP days at some stage."

"Ideally I would have wanted to quit after 40 days or so, but the games were really hard in February because of the Ultimate promotion you guys were running, which caused a lot of good players to make a lot of extra hours."

Online poker's man of the hour went on to state he thought his achievement was a "pretty standard story of a student playing poker to make some extra money which spiralled into something more", and that although it was a stressful experience, that it was "a very good feeling" to have reached Supernova Elite while he could.
