Once again businessman Bill Perkins is using the poker community as his plaything, as he has made yet another lucrative and physically grueling prop bet.

This time Byron Kaverman is going to attempt to complete an Iron Man race in 13 hours, and will win $50,000 if he does it. He has six months to train for the bet which will see him try to swim 2.4 miles, cycle 112 miles and run 26.2 miles in 13 hours.

This is just the latest in a string of ridiculous prop bets Perkins has been involved in, including Dan Bilzerian's cycling bet, Antonio Esfandari's lunge bet and no sex bet, and Jeff Gross's tattoo bet.

Poker better than golf for networking

It's an old trope that most business is done on the golf course, as the wealthy tend to use the green as an excuse to network and have fun at the same time.

According to an article in Quartz, poker is actually a much better activity if you are wanting to woo a potential client, as well as the better choice for charity events.

The article cites several people from the world of business, with Bob Crimmins from Poker Startup 2.0 revealing the easiness of starting in poker being the main factor for its success as a business tool:

With golf you have to take lessons, spend $1,000 on gear, and play for months before you’re ready to keep up. If you spend 20 minutes learning the rules of poker, you’re ready to play.

One day to go!

We are just one day away from the biggest event of the poker year, and the folks at the WSOP are getting everything ready for six weeks of poker action:
