Doyle Brunson to make WSOP return

Poker legend scheduled to make an appearance at this year’s World Series after coming out of retirement to go in hunt of an 11th WSOP Bracelet.

The WSOP is back later this month and 83-year-old Poker Hall of Famer Doyle ‘Texas Dolly’ Brunson is scheduled to be there for the first time in three years.

The ten-time bracelet winner, who also has two Main Event titles to his name, is all set to interrupt his three year WSOP retirement, although how many events he will attend depends on his personal situation and the health of loved ones.

His last cash at the Rio event came in 2013 at the $10,000 World Championship where he came in 409th place to scoop $28,063, while his last bracelet, number 10, was collected back in 2005.

Appearance teased on Twitter

Brunson deliberately hinted at his proposed appearance this summer when responding to Maria Ho’s Tweet about room service, signing off with the line “Hope you are allowed to say hello to me at WSOP”. When pressed further, also on Twitter, the legend admitted “I actually am thinking about playing all the 10k events. Depends on my wife’s health issues”.

At present, Doyle’s 10 career WSOP bracelets see him tied in the all-time bracelet table in second place with Johnny Chan and Phil Ivey. Phil Hellmuth currently tops the WSOP list with 14 bracelets.
