Jon Borenstein tops 3,541 WPT500 field
Away from the WSOP, over 3,500 entries sign up for WPT500 event proving that there’s life for the lower buy-ins even in Vegas.
Over at the Aria, Jon Borenstein enjoyed playing the WPT500 Las Vegas where he saw off the large field of 3,541 entries to secure a win. Those runners combined to create a prizepool of $1,770,500 and it was 27-year-old Borenstein who out lasted them all for a $230,000 payday.
That was a decent score for a guy literally playing the event to kill time while in town for the WSOP. Borenstein busted in the $1,500 No Limit Hold'em at the Rio days before his $500 buy-in WPT event got underway.

However, following that elimination he was kicking about looking for something to do at which point, on a whim, he signed up for the WPT500 at the Aria.
Borenstein Said;
“I actually wasn’t even going to play in this tournament. I busted the tournament from the WSOP really early. And I was looking for something to do, and to play. And I saw this on Twitter and I came over and I ended up bagging the chip lead on 1A after one bullet. And so, I mean it was only logical that this is where I would end up after that.”
It proved to be a good and profitable decision and further boosts his returns this summer having cashed twice in the WSOP in June.
