The poker community comes together to support Veronica Brill

The poker world has shown its generosity by supporting the GoFundMe for Veronica Brill's legal fees in the latest Mike Postle case.

Last week we brought you the news that Mike Postle was suing a number of high profile poker figures including PokerNews, Daniel Negreanu, Phil Galfond, Joe Ingram and Doug Polk, as well as ESPN.

They were all big names in the industry with presumed deep pockets, with the exception of one defendant - whistleblower Veronica Brill.

Brill has been defiant from the start of this drama and was the first person to publicly accuse Mike Postle of cheating in the Stones Gambling Hall live streamed games last year. As expected, she announced she will be fighting the case and last week launched a GoFundMe for her legal fees:

As we wrote last week, the overwhelming consensus in the poker world appears to be that Mike Postle had cheated in those live streamed games. To get a snapshot on just how strong that public feeling was, Brill's initial GoFundMe for $20,000 sold out in five hours after Bill Perkins stepped in.

As a lot of poker players have suggested, $20,000 might not be enough for Brill to fight this case and as such the target has been extended. At the time of writing she is up to $26,500 and 304 players have donated. This includes people from all corners of the poker world including Jamie Gold, Phil Hellmuth, Erik Seidel, Farah Galfond and many more known players, as well as hundreds of poker fans giving what they can.

At the time of writing the only other defendant who has stated they will be fighting the lawsuit is Todd Witteles but most in the poker community expect the majority of the defendants to take Postle on in the courtroom. Indeed Joe Ingram and Phil Galfond have retweeted Brill's GoFundMe and none of the named defendants have taken down their Postle related content, so it would appear they are gearing up to defend themselves.

Will we see this play out in a court room? Let us know in the comments:
