The World Poker Tour has the biggest field in its history

Live poker may not be happening in most places in the world, but we have more proof that the demand for it is still huge.

The final table

The WPT Seminole Hard Rock Poker Showdown in Florida has just reached the final table, after attracting the biggest field in WPT history.

2,482 entries for the $3,500 event, breaking 1,795 entry record set in the same event back in 2014.

It was always going to be huge because this event accounts for four of the biggest five WPT events of all time, plus Florida is considered both a soft place to play and also has some of the most relaxed COVID rules. Indeed, back in January this same casino attracted a 1,573 field for another WPT event.

It looks like demand will be huge everywhere in the world when restrictions are lifted. Over in Europe EPT Sochi also attracted a record field back in March.

Outside of Florida and Sochi the rest of the poker world is still bearish on announcing major live events, but we now have the go ahead for the 2021 World Series of Poker in September.

Also in Vegas the Wynn has announced Wynn Millions, which takes place from July 25 and boasts a $10,000 Main Event with a $10 million guarantee. This is no doubt to fill the hole left by the World Series of Poker and a bold statement that 1,000 people will be able to put up $10k in the Summer.
