Jenny Westerlund wins record-breaking WSOP-C Main Event

A six-figure win in Tallinn for the Swedish player in a landmark field for this event.

The latest World Series of Poker Circuit event broke records as Swedish player Jenny Westerlund won an epic final hand when play was still three-handed to take home a life-changing top prize of €200,200 and the latest WSOP-Circuit Ring.

The record field of 888 players was whittled down to nine finalists at the OlyBet Olympic Park Casino, and when play kicked off on the final day, Westerlund was second in chips. The Swede, who took on players from fellow Scandinavian countries such as Norway and Finland at the final table, took control and dominated the last day of the event, winning the title without even reaching the heads-up stage.

Bullying many of the shorter stacks early on, Westerlund took control of the action, later stating: “I had a big stack [so] I wanted to pressure the middle stacks and small stacks and it worked.”

After building a big lead with three players left, Westerlund called off two shoves in the very first hand of three-handed play, holding Ace-Jack offsuit. Igor Pihela Sr held Ace-Six for a dominated hand, but the Polish player Krzysztof Chmielowski turned over pocket queens. A flop of 9-3-2 looked set to double the Pole back into contention, but an Ace on the turn meant Westerlund was one card from glory, and when a three landed on the river, it was all over.

Westerlund, whose biggest previous score was a fourth-place finish at the Nordic Master of Poker event in her home capital of Stockholm back in 2014, had the biggest win of her career by far. Not only did she take home €200,200, but she also won one of the many GGPoker Road to Paradise $5,000 packages on offer before the 2025 WSOP Paradise festival kicks off this coming December.

Before this win in the Estonian capital, Westerlund had earned just under €77,000 in career earnings, but many of those results had come in Tallinn, including five of her last six cashes.

“I don’t think I really recognise the feeling yet,” Westerlund told streamers OlyBet after the final hand played out. “It’ll be a couple of days before I realise I actually won all that money. It’ll make a big difference in my life.”
