Ren Lin suspended from the WSOP and GGPoker

Following his DQ from a WSOP-C event for ghosting a player, the ambassador is out, for now, at GG and the World Series.

Earlier this week, we brought you the news that GGPoker Ambassador Ren Lin admitted to helping a friend while he was at the GGMillion$ final table. Today, GGPoker have taken decisive action. 

He was already disqualified from a WSOP-C event in Cyprus; now, he is indefinitely suspended from GGPoker, the WSOP and all partner platforms.

The player he assisted, "RealOA", is permanently banned from the WSOP, GGPoker and partner platforms. 

RealOA's winnings were redistributed to the affected players, and Lin made up a $96,380 shortfall personally. Earlier this week, he made a public apology where he showed remorse and accepted the consequences of his actions.

Since the WSOP was acquired by GGPoker, it is likely that players banned from the live operation will be banned from the online site, and vice versa, with this being one of the first clear examples. Earlier this year, admitted cheat Ali Imsirovic was banned from several live events for his online wrongdoing. 

Lin is a GGPoker ambassador, and there is no word on whether he has lost his endorsement deal, which would suggest he has not. It is interesting that he is not permanently suspended, whereas RealOA is. It was RealOA who appeared to seek out assistance in real time, which might be the reason for the severity of his punishment. 

It would appear that after a period of good behaviour, Lin will be welcomed back to the WSOP and GGPoker. GG has an occasional Olive Branch initiative where previously banned players can appeal their decision.
