Hello! Anyone here uses mobile apps for their mental health problems? Please let me know and how do rate the application in terms of usage and benefits. Thanks!

Hi poncygainful ,

What an interesting notion -- I've never even heard of such an app.

I'm eager to hear what suggestions others may have, though...

All the best,

I recently read a topic called e-counseling and it the idea that online counseling can be done nowadays is something that is wonderful. If you have mobile apps for this, then it is very helpful.

Based on what I read in the article you linked, I did a Google search and found:
:diamond:  1 app -- https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.betterhelp&hl=en
:diamond:  3 pages of suggested apps:
https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/10-mobile-apps-that-deliver-advice-and-therapy/
http://www.vivala.com/mind-spirit/ecounselling-apps-mental-health/816
http://mashable.com/2014/07/31/therapy-apps/#8Dbe4002.iqu

I did not check any of them except the app -- and it appears to be merely a connection to a counsellor or perhaps a team of them.

After some thought I decided that there is a big problem -- confidentiality.
There is no way for the user to ensure that their interactions with the app remain private.

So I'll not be trying any of them.

All the best,

Hmmm.. you're right about confidentiality issue. E-counseling supports HIPAA as they have stipulated.

It is over-whelming how technology improve the health care today. Do you agree?

Hi poncygainful,
Is there some app or tech that you were thinking of in particular?

I sure do agree, although I haven't found many mobile apps that provide much benefit.
There are a lot of menu-planners available that provide sound nutritional advice though...
