first of all in am judging these hands without any reads(try to post some notes in the future)
first hand: yeah it's a fold
second hand: easy call (all draws missed)
third hand: standard
fourth hand: don't second barrel that 6; very bad card for a second barrel u would want a card like an ace to bet again
fifth hand: i don't like your 3bet preflop and your continuation bet is to big (160 is better )
sixth hand: cbet the flop and then give up (also 60 on the flop is better)

I play 100 USD HUSNGs now.

I aspire to play the highest stakes at some point, and when I have enough of a roll I plan to play HU cash games. I feel I have good natural skill to ascend in poker but my confidence gets shaken when I have a stretch of breakeven/losing matches.

So, really, what does it take to play the highest games there is? What makes Dan Cates different that the rest? (lol, can this even be answered?!!)

Being able to understand your opponent, react to him well and always be 1 level above him/her is the most important thing, if you can reach level 10 but can't assign what level your opponent is on then it is pointless.

lol i don't know but i think u should never enter a game with a psihologycal disadvantage (being comfortable losing 10k in a day for example)
aside that i think u should really work a lot on your hand reading skills (reading a very good regular is very hard )

how do you react to ppl who min open btn or 2.5x in HU cash? Is it as simple as opening up our defending range?

Would be a shame to let this thread die. So started digging through some hands i copy/pasted into notepad and found this.

his standard raise size was 4x. Was a very agressive player as far as i can remember. cbet 100% of flops. I call preflop. And decide to check/raise this flop. Not any particularly good reason really. Just for value and hoping he shoves some weak/flush draw hands because he doesn't give me any credit.

I check the turn to induce bluffs, to see what he does but also i don't mind checking it down that much either. He shoves which looks really weak to me. I think very very few players would shove 6x here so i snapcalled.

Not sure what i would have done if he bet halfpot. He was really agressive so i'd probably would have gotten it in anyway. Played very few hands up to this hand. So not so sure how i should have played it.

Stacks:
SB (1,275)
Hero (BB) (1,725)

Blinds: 15/30

Pre-Flop: (45, 2 players) Hero is BB A♥ 9♠
SB raises to 120, Hero calls 90

Flop: 2♠ 6♠ 9♦ (240, 2 players)
Hero checks, SB bets 120, Hero raises to 300, SB calls 180

Turn: 6♦ (840, 2 players)
Hero checks, SB goes all-in 855, Hero calls 855

River: 4♣ (2,550, 2 players, 1 all-in)

1. 3beting AJo is not a MUST, however its definately fine preflop...
2. cbeting wet flops like this with big A is not a Must to...i usually just check/fold them, as fishes cant fold pairs,gutshots,etc..obv, it's villain and BI (thinking level) dependant..
3.if ur are going cbet/fold, then cbet less,like 300...

as already mentioned, if c-bet, then less :) also depends on you opponent. I played against people who fold to c-bet everytime unless they hit top pair

How should I play pocket pairs versus donks who reraise a lot? I tried allins but they always hit their top card and ruin my pair.

either fold to the 3bet, or make your initil raise smaller.

for exmaple, if you raise to 3x and they pot to 9x, your implied odds are worse than if you make it 2x and they 3b to 6x as there will be 12x in the pot rather than 18x

i dont think limping buttons 100bb deep is very good at all as it instantly makes it very difficult to get stacks in when we have a big hand and leaves us less fold equity when doing 3 barrel bluffs etc.

I prefer to call a 3bet IP with pp than limp it.

As pleno1 says, when you hit your set it'll be more difficult to put their all in and if you're playing a 3bet pot you'll almost 100% of the times will have action at the flop at least, imo.

P.s- I play hu cash.

I usually dont make such hero calls but I just couln't put him on a hand on the river + why would he bet so much? He had an agression factor of over 6, did c-bet everytime ... i played that passively but there was no other option i guess. I seriously dont know what to think about this hand. I alo woul've folded K3s against almost any other opponent preflop when 3x preflop raise. But as I said, he raised almost every time
