I think the suggestion of playing ALOT and rely on rakeback to make the money is a great idea. But ofcourse you have to be atleast break even.. Since you really have to pay off the loan you probably have enough motivation to play.
I'd personally still get a job AND study alot and play alot of poker.. I think only relying on poker is way to risky..
Get a proper job. Poker is not something you can start out of necessity.
You will tilt like a maniac and almost certainly end up in a worse situation than you are now.

ill try it a whole week to see the crisp results and go from there.
also try to focus on one game only
- when i said 40$ daily average i meant including rake and bonuses
- the date limit is 1st of march 2011
- i will crunch the numbers to see what kind of winrate, and ply hours i need to combine winnings and rate to 40$.
i will not give up for now 
play nl10 rush, 8-12 hours/day (10AVG). With RB u only need a 2bb/100 winrate to make $40 per day.
hands/hour:1200
rakeback:2bb/100=2.4$/hour
winrate:2bb/100=2.4$/hour
hourly:4.8$
hours/day:10
preofit/day:$48
u can also have a WR much higher than 2bb/100 at nl10. 7-10/100hands is achievable. U can also play alot more than 1200 hands/hour.

good guess. actually i haven't been to mcdonald's in at least 6 months....i'm pretty sure the last one was a 3 am post-bar mcdonald's run. was a 4-sport athlete in highschool and competed at international levels last year in my chosen sport.
but no, i'm just another fat internet kid who eats mcdonalds all the time lulz.
OP, i'm just being realistic here based on conversations with friends who have lived as pros or currently live as a pro and my own experience. relying on poker when you haven't made a steady profit in the past is usually a bad idea. knowing that you absolutely have to win to pay the bills creates a lot of extra stress and makes you prone to tilt. having a job - be it mcdonald's or whatever other job - gives you that steady source of income and eases the stress from poker until you are truly ready to make that leap to full-time. plus, it is hard to explain large gaps in job history to future employers in case poker doesn't work out for you, you get bored, etc.
If you have a 30k BR to begin with, you can play for a living. If you have a 1k roll, you're pretty much gambling with your rent if you're planning on making 1.2k a month...

Is the 1200 bucks a month you are looking to make include, rent, food, power, water, internet, insurance, fun money etc PLUS your loan re-payment??
If so, where they hell do you live so I can move there for such a low cost of living????
Also that is $7.50/hour, which is .50 cents less than the lowest provinces minimum wage.
If this is a loan for the lowest level technical or administratrive college, which you did not finish....you would still have 'some' skills that could land you a decent manual labour job that pays well above mimimun wage. Since you mentioned "suitable" in your original post, i take it that you are picky when it comes to finding/having a job....
Lastly....not to poke at you personally but what is the reason that you did not complete your studies? Lack of interest, lack of commitment, lack of knowledge??? Knowing why you did not complete your studies will also help you with your poker, since if it is was lack of commitment per say, then you may have a hard time commiting to 40+ hours of week of sitting at your computer playing/studying poker.

30k is a bit nitty. 10k is usually the accepted amount.
3 months living expenses AT A MINIMUM saved up beforehand is very important as well.
Get a dayjob and hit the tables during evenings. If you're crushing nl100 with 5k bankroll on march 1st, go for it. If not, stick with your dayjob.
Don't ever think that you're a winning player after a week of play. Because you might seem like a winning ruletteplayer with a weeks samplesize.

No, dude, sign up for the Durrrr challenge, you only need 3 bb to survive the whole month.
The problem is if you don't have enough money saved up, and you have to cash out 1200$ at the end of the month, but you only made 800$ due to downswing or what ever, then your roll will take a huge hit and you'll have to make 1600$ the next month to get your roll back to 1k or where ever you started at.
The problem with this is that you will tilt since every bad beat will hurt you that much more, or you'll even be forced to move down to NL10 where its really difficult to make a decent amount of money. In this case its better to get at least some part time job that you can pay the bills with and play poker for additional income.
Playing NL25 and cashing out 1.2k at the end of the month will also make it extremely difficult to move up the limits where you can actually make a decent living out of it.
Think about it... if it were that easy everyone would do it. (Or almost everyone).
Idk.. for every winning player there are a bunch of losing ones. Takes time to climb your way out of the bunch.

If i made $1200 a month.. as a student that'd be very nice and all.. but i wouldn't drop out of college for that.. that's like minimum wage.. or even below i think where i live.. It's not easy but really not impossible either.. I heard of a nl100 super nova (or even elite don't remember) player who was actualy a losing player.. but he was living off of poker winnings due to the bonusses and rakeback..
