"Born again to different country, he could join in one of their affiliates when getting 21 years old... Then the revenge started. He completely smashed the NL200 tables with hyper-lag style, leaving the house in awe and bringing home huge winnings. The wife was happy and his six children were laughing. He was a good guy."

I have been playing online poker for 18 years and have never had any problems with a poker room. A few months ago I was banned from GGPoker. The whole thing came out of nowhere for me. I definitely didn't do anything that violated the terms of use. Contacting support several times didn't help and I wasn't given a reason. Only that I had violated the terms of use. For me it is time to do something. There are numerous regulatory authorities in EU states and other countries. I will now contact the relevant authority in Germany. I hope that other players who have had similar experiences will join me and also contact the regulatory authorities in their countries.

For Germany, here is the link to report violations:

I hope it goes well, but the sad truth is that GG (and any other game provider) can ban anyone they like. They have the right to choose their customer. Their T&C gives the right for that. One easy example is that they can ban player who does predatory behaviour. In lightest form it means that you target specific player to gain monetary value. That means table selecting or even changing your strategy to gain more money from that player.

I know it sounds silly, as that is the whole purpose of poker as we see it. I have asked clarification from GG security few years ago on whan can be considered as predatory behaviour. They said that making notes, table selecting and using color codes CAN be considered as predatory behaviour. Doesn't make sense, but when you start to fight them with law it doesn't mean what we think. They can ban anyone they like, and it's not against any T&C or license regulation. If they don't let you withdraw your money, that would be a whole different case as the regulations for money is way different and strict.

So why does GG have these features in its software? That doesn't make sense to me. I've contacted the German gambling authorities and if enough others do the same, hopefully they'll at least ask GG for an explanation. In my opinion, GG can't just do whatever they want. Otherwise they could have their license revoked.

You are completely correct. They can only do what their customers agree to, and on creating an account a player agrees to the terms and conditions offered. I know of nobody that has ever refused to join a website of any kind because they disagreed with the Terms & Conditions

I see it differently. If the terms of use violate applicable law, they are invalid. I know of many examples of this, at least in Germany. And in this case, one could argue that the poker room is only interested in paying out as little money as possible. That could violate the licensing conditions in Germany.

Please do us all a favor and don't write if you have no idea. I don't understand why people have to make sarcastic comments when they have no knowledge at all. If you have something useful to say, say it. Otherwise, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with the subject matter first.

I have done it quite often. Sometimes I come across a few points that raise concerns, and decide to "bite the bullet" anyway (this includes many poker sites), but there have been quite a few instances where I considered joining a website or installing some software and changed my mind after reading the T&C.

Looks like the massive amount of feedback has reached GG. I had left PPT Oracle open today when I played few hands, and I got a warning message in the client. And after that a formal warning.

No. Just 6 messages of formal warning, until I raelized I should check running processes too. I closed Oracle, but the process was left running. Had to shut it down from task manager.

They are still banning people and locking their funds for "bumhunting" I know a guy who is playing the hypers on stars, but he also sit down on (cap) and (short) high stakes cash games to play fish. Due to less traffic on Stars and more competitions against other Division Regs he tried GG, after 888 SNG have died out aswell.

He had his account locked yesterday and funds frozen without explanation, but I am guessing as well as him its because he select tables and play anyone who is an unknown for a few hands to see if they are decent or just a fish who wan't to gamble. This is just an excuse to get rid off people like him who are winning players off their site, but also scam people with fake RB numbers.

If only other sites did not ban Russian players, GG would be nothing and they can treat winning players how ever they like, unless other sites begin to accept those player pools aswell. I do remember that Stars lost alot of players after the ban in 2022 and they all jumped to GG.

I also do hope more and more goverements will put restrictions on GG for the scam it is, we had it in Sweden for awhile but now we are allowed to play there again. Isolate them, and force people to play elsewhere, in the end only East Asian market will be left there.

Do their terms and conditions forbid predatory table selection?

In T&C they have this "predatory behaviour", which is quite broad way to ban pretty much anyone they like. As I said, they have said that "selecting table based on opponents can be considered as predatory behaviour". As does using color codes, making notes and adjusting your strategy to win more from the opponent. So pretty much anything that strategical players do, can be considered as predatory behaviour. In GG policy they don't ever explain what you did, so no one can really get any justice from poker community or file law suits.

As long as they are just banning someone, they don't need to explain anything. It's their decision. But if they confiscate funds, they should follow the regulations of their license. You can fight for the money via different channels, and sometimes it works. But still you will get banned as you can't fight or challenge that.

Although GG have not bothered to reply or contact me in any way regarding this issue, I ran some experiments where I was able to get other accounts insta-banned for life during the sign up process.

I can say with fairly high confidence that my lifetime ban was issued as a result of software running in the background that is unrelated to poker. It might be a virtual machine service (windows runs the service in the background when enabled even if no virtual machine is being used) or some other tool completely unrelated to poker such as a proxy tool.

Basically, anything vaguely related to RTA or hacking, even if these tools don't interact with the poker client in any way, can result in an instant lifetime ban. Furthermore, in my case, there would be zero indicators of foul play in terms of gameplay to confirm any suspicions. Besides, I was able to get a lifetime ban on accounts that have never played any hands.

When creating an account on a mac where certain windows services/programs are not running, I was able to complete the account creation process and access the lobby without being instantly banned for lifetime. I could technically access the games now if I wanted to, but this is not really the way I do things. If GG ever issue an apology and unblock my main account, I will play there, but I'm not going to circumvent this.

Anyway, key idea is that GG will instantly ban you for life if they spot certain software running without bothering to check if you are actually cheating in any way. (And it's not stuff like GTO wizard or trackers afaik). Of course, fairly juvenile approach to security. Also completely ironic when you consider the number of bots that are currently operating in their games without any sort of restraint.

It's ironic also that after all these years of bad decisions they are still doing them.
