$0.10/$0.20 No Limit Hold'em Cash, 5 Players

SB: $37.34 (186.7 bb)
BB: $41.84 (209.2 bb)
MP: $20.67 (103.4 bb)
CO: $4 (20 bb)
Hero (BTN): $20.01 (100.1 bb)

Preflop: Hero is BTN with 7 8
MP calls $0.20, CO calls $0.20, Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, MP calls $0.80, CO calls $0.80

Flop: ($3.30) 3 9 Q (3 players)
MP checks, CO checks, Hero checks

Turn: ($3.30) 6 (3 players)
MP bets $1.40, CO folds, Hero calls $1.40

River: ($6.10) 2 (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $3.66, MP folds

UTG 52/20 fish/227 hands. / AF3,3(not so passive)
CO 38/0 fish/22 hands.

Pre: standard.

Flop: no need to cbet to 2 fishes.

Turn: he bets small so Its easy call with SD.

River: I doubt that this villain has x/calling range. Queens + would bet this river. When he checks I think that he most likely has TJ/78/FD. Also if he has a small pair he would likely bet small on the river and not check(from my experience).

I don't have a lot of showdown value with my hand so I decide to bet ~60% of the pot as a bluff to make villain fold his missed draws. I would bet the same amount with my Qx hands here because villain has weak range so I think that I don't need to bet bigger. I rarely bluff vs fishes but this spot seemed to be nice for it. This time it worked but what do you think?

Edit: forgot to say. Villains check was quick so that also made me think that he doesn't have strong holdings. If he had something he would think that should he bet it and how much etc.

I think the fish has many busted draws (stronger than your hand) that could fold, so agree with river bet. If he has weak Q or some 9x hand, I expect him to bet some small amount on the blank river.

How about us limping too? Are the blinds aggressive?

SB 25/19 reg squeeze 11/ 3b 7,4
BB 28/21 reg squeeze 7/ 3b 7,9

I think that limping is not a good idea.

I'm not so sure about that river bet. River is a brick. Villain could bet turn with small pairs and he might find a call button OTR. Why do you think he doesn't have x/c range here?

Well, you keep the pot small, you will be IP and can call.

If he has Qx he would bet turn+river. Why is he checking the river?

If he has 9x,TT,JJ? If he had hand like that checking flop would be standard here. He can bet turn because no one seemed to be interested in the pot and when we call he checks river again? River changes nothing so he might find a call with those hands here if we bet.

Our turn call was ok with OESD but I think we should give up OTR. Our fold equity is not so huge.

Well JJ-TT will call the river for sure. 9x maybe, maybe not...
Though all of them can barrel 2streets too...

p.s. I do not like the river bet too.

Our story makes no sense. Any hand we could check OTF and not X-R OTT would check behind OTR - except our busted draw range. Or, I guess, a really badly slowplayed top set.

Anything with any showdown value at all has to call you here.

Oh no never. Somehow I misread this hand that the Q came on the board OTT. Yes my river bet is horrible.

How is it possible to misread this hand so many times... :f_biggrin:

I would never bet otr like this with this line... I was thinking all the time that the Q came on the turn?(?(?( Hahah sorry for posting this hand! I feel really stupid. When I was playing I also thought that the flop was lowcards and Q came on the turn..

:sorry:

With the "new" information I would just call turn and never bet river...

No problem :f_biggrin: Apparently it is possible to misread a hand that one has actually played himself

It is ok to misread. You should not do it while playing... :)

I'm not sure what you're expecting with your raise preflop ? What is your plan ?
Are you expecting to isolate one of the limpers and to bet the flop only with a draw if they both call you pre ?

I can take the pot down preflop + If I get one of them heads up its is easy to take the pot away. If they both call then I have to play my hand more straightforward.
