The Nash calculator says not to shove 88 here, but I think shoving is a close decision. In practice, I think you will get called a bit more often by lower pocket pairs, and you have enough equity against those hands that you want those calls. In addition, your opponents might not collide as often if you fold.

Your main worry is that someone will have 99+ after you. What is the chance of that? As a very rough estimate, each of the 6 pocket pairs occurs 0.5% of the time, so 99+ is about a 3% range, and the chance that one of 6 players has 99+ is roughly 3% x 6 = 18%. When you do run into a higher pair, you sometimes draw out, but it's pretty costly compared with the benefit of taking the blinds since your stack is over 12 bb. You can see from this calculation that the number of players after you matters a lot.
