Hi Adam,

Close this 1. I am happy to shove this v a weak opponent who will lay a hand down, but I will often discount limps at this stage and just go with my initial thought.

That said, you need to look at possible ranges for this villain.

Is he super tight and only limping high Ax, Kx or PPs? if so we are behind his range if we allocate 88+,A9s+,KTs+,QTs+,AJo+,KQo <--- this is a 40/60 according to poker stove.

If he is a lot wider, has been shoving a lot, limp calling etc then we give a wider range of 66+,A4s+,K8s+,Q9s+,J9s+,T9s,A9o+,KTo+,QTo+,JTo <--- this is a 50/50

Given the dynamics and situation (I am again unclear as to the game type and stage) you will make a choice here.

Fwiw I fold this v a 'good' player and shove v a fish. He will often fold out low Ax and Kx and even low pp like 22 - 55.

Good Luck _cool:

Hey Adam!

Very clear shove imo! kqx preforms not bad against the limping range and you still got fe!

I would shove:

66+, a10+, a7s+, kqo, kjs+ qjs+
With those combinations you're not dominated very often and you still beat some callingranges!

Hey, thanks for the advice.
In terms of estimating ranges, should i be practicing by using equilab to see roughly what vpip accounts for roughly what ranges and estimating by position aswell. When playing what method do you use to estimate an opponents ranges? Currently I look at Vpip and guess / very roughly estimate judging by their raise size and position

When you mention limping ranges is there some way of calculating / estimating these or is it just a matter of assessing these a wider range.

To put your opponent on a range there is a bunch of different factors, like position, stats, stack size etc.

Obv you can give a tight opponent a tighter range than a loose player, but you also have to take in to consideration that if the tight player is short stacked he will shove lighter, than with a bigger stack.

So you can't just give every single opponent a default shoving range it depends on some of the things I mentioned.

I would say that the ICM trainer is a good way learn about shoving/re-shoving ranges, if you haven't already downloaded it, I would recommend you to do it.

As for estimating ranges I think the only way to learn it is through experience, you have to call some losers and fold some winners along the way before you will learn it.

Also equilab is a good way to learn about hand ranges like what hands are in an 8% range and a 13% range etc. so you know what hands to call/fold against what ranges.

As for limping ranges, most weak players tend to play a very exploitable limping game, like limping low pairs for early position, which is pretty bad imo. But in general you can assume that your opponent is weak when he is limping, so with strong hands bet BIG, you can easily bet like 4,5-5x against a single limper if you think he will call it.

Hope it helped you, otherwise I will be happy to answer further questions as good as i can. :)

+1 for Seerups advice.

I would als say that I am playing without HUD at the moment on a 12 table setup, I try to think about each situation looking at position, stack size and any table dynamics.

Often I will base a players range purely on what I would be doing in that situation. It seems to work out fairly well.
