I saw this all I can tell you is a 20 years old guy doesn't whine the way you do.

Are you actually working somewhere? Because when I first worked I really changed the way I saw life and got more mature and it was physical work not sitting at a desk; and I started not to complain like a little child for every little shit that I've got in.

You sound like pussy who can't cope with life.
What would you have done if you lived in the Middle Ages and everyone was poor, had no diversity of food, not enough water, war was a constant worry, you worked all day to provide food for your family? And if your few animals you did have died, you were completley fucked. Or you were completley a slave to the rich ones. Then what?

Remember, as you think you shall become, you think shit of course you'll do shit.

You suffer of serious deppression, start taking your life back on track.

What to do:
- Start practicising some sport, do exercises at home if you can't afford to go to gym. Buy 2 dumbbells to train better. Jogg in park, jogg across the bank of the river that crosses your city (you could even meet new people, women as well).

- Read books that you like (don't know what type? then find out and explore) Read biographies: Napoleon Bonaparte, Benjamin Franklin, Adolf Hitler (Hitler had a fucked up childhood indeed, I bet on my life yours wasn't that harsh) etc. Read the biographies of important people

Are you fucking kidding me??? Adlof Hitler is autthority for you? What an asshole you are? Learn history, than tell your "good" advices.

Is Benjamin Franklin an authority for you? Don't be a moron

Another idiot... Yeah, it doesn't matter Franklin, Napoleon or Hitler. They is no difference between them.
People are getting dumber and dumber...

I don't praise him, I had just suggested to read biographies of some important people of history and there are some examples of books he could read. If you don't want to read someone's biography because he was a bad person, it's ok. But saying it isn't important or can't be an interesting read or can't learn something from it is childish and narrow minded.

Now read his teen and youth years, then compare which life sucked harder, Hitler's or martiangoblin's. This may put things into perspective and really see what real hardships mean!

Also don't confuse Mein Kampf with a biography book.

Thank you.

First of all, I want to apologize for my language.
My reaction was too emotional.

Secondly, I totally disagree with you. I am interested in history, and I know biography of Hitler very well. And he can't be an inspiration, even though he had terrible childhood. It is like saying" Look, maybe you have a tough life, but hej, you still can become mass murderer. Isn't that awesome?"

And to the topic - imo OP has serious depression.
It can be cured, just go to the doctor. He will help you better than ppl on the forum. Good luck in finding your sense of life.

Hitler proved that even though you grow up in the lower class, if you have burning dedication you can accomplish anything. If that man is no inspiration to you then noone should be

I am a member of Anti-fascizm organization. I it makes me sad, that there are still a lot of people who think like you.

I see now that discussion with you is pointless, you will not change your mind. We have totally different perception of success and achievement. Let's dont make an off-topick.

Thank god we don't know other, because I would seriously kick ur ass for saying things like that. I am 100% serious about that.

Im not saying what he did was good, just saying he accomplished a surprising lot. Noone is born evil, he did what he did because he wanted to make to make the world a better place. It's just a shame that his worldview was somewhat twisted :)

totally agree with ihufa here

It would be very unwise to even contemplate playing poker for living before you have accomplished solid results over a long period of time. Meanwhile just threat it as a challenging hobby and don't get too upset for your failures. Just see where it leads, perhaps somewhere, perhaps nowhere.

I am a member of Anti-fascizm organization. I it makes me sad, that there are still a lot of people who think like you.

I thought we resolved this in 1945. But, to be fair, he did raise a couple of good points in "Mein Kampf".

I see now that discussion with you is pointless, you will not change your mind.

Why would you assume that you are right about this before the discussion has even ended? That's pretty arrogant.

I also agree with ihufa.

And you seem to be another one of those close-minded people who can't think out of the box that we, poker players have to deal A LOT with when tell them that we play poker and profit from it. Such things are not "right" and it's a closed case in their mind.

What Ihufa pointed out was that he has risen from lower class to leader of Germany. I'm sure Ihufa would point out same case whether Hitler killed tons of Jews or was a peaceful leader who tried to unite all races and nationalities in peace.

I get the point about hitler, however the fact is that isn't a good example. Take jenn harman. It took her grinding the cash games for a while, failing multiple times cuz of poor brm. But she kept at it and is what we aspire to be- poker pro, good human being, all around well liked player in the poker community. But i never see her talk to people like some trolls in this forum. Why can't we ue different, less arguable examples that don't take away frm the focus of this forum? Why we gotta be so cruel? poker is hard enough. Let's befriend each other and also accept the fact that ihufa will always be ihufa...lol

That's similar to asking why don't we live peacefully instead of wars... I guess it's because we are so diversified with different values and paradigms.

Hitler is a great example of great dedication and achievement. In a world where people are mostly lazy and dependant, fatalistic, etc. and do more talking than doing, it's questionable whether he did something worse for the humanity than the humanity is doing to itself.

Sure, he had done stuff that is very unacceptable to us, but you could argue that any other war (and there have been many other wars) is just as bad. Some people see Bush's war against terrorism as a win. Others, who might have had their family members killed in the war, see it as a loss.

There are a lot of different paradigms and we should acknowledge that. What you are doing here is pretty absolutistic - saying that Hitler is a bad man and that we shouldn't use him as an example. Why not? There have been a lot of good points within this debate that make a lot of sense and some people might have not even realised. I think that the social dialogue is good and should be supported, not suppressed because of one's personal paradigms.

For example, you say that it is a fast that he isn't a good example. Is that really a fact or is that just your paradigm of some other facts?

It is my understanding that Hitler was deranged. I've heard various "diagnoses" -- megalomania, paranoia etc.

If this is true, it somewhat diminishes his accomplishment.

There are a lot of other excellent examples to hold up as models.

At the core, the only two things a human being can contribute are attitude and effort. With those, all the skill and talent will come, without them, all skill and talent are useless.

I don't question Hitler's effort, but his attitude was despicable -- thus his results.

The op in this thread seems to have had problems in both categories -- namely his attitude that effort did not matter.

+1. Nice to know you understand what i was saying. Keep it simple and use examples everyone can relate to, rather then openin up a completely different topic.

Actually, if you read ninuu's original post, you could see other examples nearby. And in the context he wrote about Hitler, I see it as completely acceptable and actually quite useful to the OP - he could learn a lot from it.

But if you decide that Hitler is bad and that his biography shouldn't be used as an example, then well, that is your paradigm. But since there is a relative freedom of speech on these forums, I do not see anything wrong in it and really do not understand your complaining.

In essence, this discussion developed from complaining, not from praising Hitler or something similar, since ninuu never mentioned anything like that, but merely listed Hitler's biography in context with other biographies.

You don't understand it because it is not complaining. In fact it is mere opinion, all I am allowed to offer on this forum...if u dont like it too bad ;)

Oh well, i think at least if Hitler gets into the discussion you can regard it as "derailed". To get back to the original topic - i think EVERYONE here in this forum came for a reason and whether you call it "I wanted to improve" "i realized i suck" or whatever - in the end it's probably always the same reason, just a different wording.

I already made it clear in my personal welcome post (Think you're a pro, play like a noob) that i don't have a problem with admitting that i can improve.

In the end of the day it's upon you to believe if you got the guts to make it to the world elite or not. For sure no master ever dropped from heaven. I think you can name all the names of the common poker gods and tournament winners and probably all of them started as noobs, knowing less than any of of. Unlikely that they were born with a royal flush in their hands, but they just kept on playing, most probably even without professional help as you get here on pokerstrategy.com.

So i think if you say like "i will never become a pro" then that is more of your will than your fate. Even our holy super pros that we watch with open mouths at winning the wsop sometimes lose, in the end of the day i always say it's like "30% skill and 70% luck". But if you at least master these 30% skill you will make your bankroll grow in the long run. Even if you lost that satellite to the WSOP this year, maybe you have more luck next year. or 2014. You're never busted untill you give up yourself.

Yeah, this thread is becoming a joke. Onward and upward from here mates! I'm off to seek out players who don't have their head buried in the sand.

Sure, everyone can have their own paradigms. There are no right or wrong ones. They are only our perceptions of the world. And each of them should be respected and not judged. It doesn't matter who likes something and who doesn't, but some argumentated debate is never bad. It's sharing knowledge and expanding it.

Insight into different points of view can help us at least be slightly more objective (although that opens up a whole another discussion), and is way better than saying that there is one absolute truth. Although there are many religions which say exactly that and again, that is another subject. But yes, only by listening to what other people say can we improve as people, in many areas of our lives.

And I do understand what you are saying. And I agree that it would be nicer if everyone acted nicer and there was no trolling on these forums. But such things are outside of my circle of influence, which is why it doesn't make much sense for me to try and influence them. People rarely realize that they should first focus on themselves, and by doing so, they will be able to influence others. But you can never influence something if you don't first listen to it and understand it.

There might be a million reasons why someone is posting negative comments on the forums. They might have problems with people who they love. For example, if you knew that someone's mother died a couple of days ago and he is trying to suppress that via trolling, would you say that's right or not? It might not be the best solution in your eyes, but you cannot say that he is a bad person if he is just using his defense mechanisms.

If you really want to make world (and these forums) a better place, go out and help people. Talk to these trolls. Befriend them. Listen to them, be empathic. And perhaps they will once trust you enough that you will be able to influence them. If you are already doing this, I would like to thank you for trying to make a world a better place.

I am not writing this to prove a point or anything. I am just trying to share my knowledge which might help you as well, just as insights of other people have helped me. Whether you accept it or ignore it, it is up to you, but if we share our knowledge, we are on a good way to making the world nicer ;).
