How to recognize station

Not really, depends on how often you've been raising your small blind, been barelling with air etc etc. This really depends on game dynamics, and especially your perceived image by your opponent.

A calling station is recognized by having a very low aggression factor (never bets or raises post-flop, but only calls)
They also tend to go to showdown a lot -- like over 50%

But you need a few hundred hands to really tell.
In this case, opponent had second pair and a diamond so unless you had a Q, he may even have had the best hand.

It seems I have a few players mislabeled.

Well you are Blind vs Blind, and the SB often opens a wide range, which means your preflop range contains a lower strong-to-weak hands ratio then if you would be in EP. I mean you know that, but this is probably also in your opponents head.

You probably wouldn't bet 99-JJ like that on the turn. You could play a flush like this, or a Q+ pair, or A♦:X / K♦:X But if you don't have a Queen or better he is ahead. And in case he is not ahead, he has some low flush equity. He has position on you so it's easier to get to showdown.

The only signal I get from this hand in terms of him being a calling station is that he did not 3bet preflop. So he might be, we will have to wait and see.

Definitely!
It is very likely you have a made hand or a strong draw here considering your MP range and the board. 77 does really bad against your range here.

I think their call on the flop is okay but unless they’ve seen you double barrelling all day, this turn call screams station
