i wanted to creat database username : elehpant
pasworld:12345
and then :connection to database server lost

FATAL:2800: pasworld authentication failed for user "elephant"
any help ? i downloaded elephant 0.42 standalone

Remove postgreSQL, all of it, there is a thread in this forum that tells you how. Then install it again and restart your computer.
That's how I did it after I had the same problem and it works now.
i removed :
Deinstalling PostgreSQL correctly
then i installed again and restarted my computer and still same porblem
I created a new administrator user with pg Admin III and put this new user and password in Elephant.
Then it works !

How did you do that?
1/ in the folder "postgresql 8.3" folder, you have the application "Pgadmin III".
Launch it.
2/ Double click on "Postgresql SQLserver" to connect to the server.
3/ In the tree view, on the left u have "connection role". click on the right button of your mouse and create a new connection role

another way is simply to put the username and the password you putted at your POSTGRESQL install, instead of "elephant" and "pass"..
The default username il: postgres
and you choosed the password...
