How Do You Backup Your Pokerstars Setting Files?

For me I would save the notes, and the user configurations settings to a separate folder.

Then, I would uninstall PokerStars and delete the settings folder completely.

Next, I would install PokerStars from a fresh download.
I would not restore the configuration settings — instead I would go through all the settings and put things to the way I prefer. This is just in case your problem is a corrupt settings file.

Once everything is working, I would restore the notes.

I've had to do this a couple of times.

That is interesting that you mention to not restore the configuration settings and do it manually since it could be a corrupt settings file. But how would I even do this then? I have to take screenshots of all my stars settings with my software opened and basically look at it and do it all manually?

I don't have much notes at all. I want to have my settings like hotkeys, favorites and all those graphic settings etc.

So save those 2 files in a separate folder. Then uninstall stars. Then download stars again? Then log in and change the settings manually? How do I know for sure if I remove everything on stars when I do it? I go to add/remove programs right? I use windows 11 pro.

That would be one way to do it. I just open the setting tool in the client, and go through all of the different pages, and set things how I like them.
The most important ones like where to save hand histories and so on get done first.
Also, double-check that your tracking software — I think you mentioned HM3 — is pointing to the correct folder for importing.
Play a few test hands and check everything.

Check out a program called "Revo Uninstaller" https://www.revouninstaller.com/
There is a free version, and perhaps a free trial of the pro version.

Is revouninstaller necessary? What about just add/remove programs and removing stars? So it might not remove all stars files?

No, it isn't necessary, but it roots out stuff that gets left behind. Just removing PokerStars 'normally' will leave things like that XCW folder etc.
This isn't a problem unless it is a problem.

I use Revo because I like it.
In real life I managed the IT dept of a printing plant, and had to keep all the servers and software running cleanly and trouble-free, so I got used to doing things thoroughly.

I wouldn't worry too much about getting things back exactly. Do the important ones, then as you play, you'll find things you'd like to do differently.

Just out of curiosity, what processor, and how much RAM does your laptop have?

But assuming nothing, then download stars from the site. Then there should be no more of those issues I mentioned right with the Pokerstars Lobby (Not Responding) message freezing for a bit every time before the software closes?

It's an i7-12700H processor with 32gb ram. Intel Iris XE Graphics Card and Nvidia 3050 Graphics Card. That is more than fast enough right?

I have similar issues on 888poker as well. Whenever I had 10 tables or so, software issues everywhere. It's much worst than stars when it happens on 888.

It's been mentioned both sites changed their software so I'm wondering if there are even people that can play 18 tables or more these days? Like are there people that 24 tables on stars with tournaments or it's not possible even with the fastest computer out there.

I have a desktop, 32GB[1] , and an i7-4770 processor, and an NVIDIA GeForce 960 graphics card.

I have never played more than 8 tables so I have no way to test that aspect of the problem.

Since this happens on 888 also, I'm become more and more convinced that something else is causing this.
Have a look at task manager once again, and stop all non-essential processes.
If you don't know whether it is essential or not, ask an AI like perplexity.ai what it is, and what the consequences would be of stoppping it.
Some of the processes will be services, and need to be stopped separately.
in Task manager is a startup tab.
Go through that and disable all non-essential items.

So you have a desktop. I have a laptop. Those specs seem very similar to my older laptop. Older laptop had i5-6300hq and Intel HD 530 Graphics Card and the NVidia Geforce GTX 960M.

I have over 100 background processes in task manager. Is that normal? At the moment when not playing, the only one that shows power usage high or very high is system. The fans seem to be running on my laptop as well now. That usually don't happen. I did make my laptop go on high performance on battery and plugged in recently.

In startup, lot of these on status shows as disabled. So only check the enabled ones? I have no idea about those programs. But so far the enabled programs on startup are

Yeah, 100 background processes seems standard — there's 195 running on my machine right now.

I uninstalled skype when support for it ended.
