[FR] AK folded on turn

Good idea when we have position and somebody donks to us is to raise IP , bet turn and checkbehind River with our quite good showdown value. With such lane we got cheaper going to showdown and most important we can get cheaper read with what type of hands oponent is betting.

If he donks here not only Tx/8x but also fsdraw on Ax/Kx + str8draws+gutshots, then we still should have profitable colddown with AK vs uknown oponent.

It's somehow true you can achieve a freecard and get to the showdown cheaper but on the other hand you risk to take a 3bet on the flop and you could say: Then you have at least an information about your opponents handstrenght but you actually doesn'T because he could still have 87 or a flushdraw. I would just call the flopbet because he openraised from MP1 and doesn't really have that many flushdraws in his range. Rather AT 55 66 77 88 99 etc. And first i would not assume that he's purebluffing. Raising gives you a small portion of PotEquity but assumed MP1 is having a pair 80% of the time, biggest part of PotEQ goes over to him and we've isolated ourself against a madehand. That's not really in our interest.

And SB won't certainly fold A6 and we wanna keep his dominated A7 A8 A9 AJ AQ hands in. I think it's ok to fold the Turn because KQ KJ QJ have still a good EQ against you and are just 3 combinations but against ATs KTs 55 66 88 you're crushed. The question is whether he's such a donk who's capable of donkin with naked KQ or AQ etc and gives up on the River. It's certainly close between calldown and folding the Turn.

Did you have any information about recent hands been played together?

Limped with Ax, Kx, Qx type of hands. Didn't see any agression from him previously.

At the moment of folding my initial thought was 'set'.

One thing: You should stop thinking: When i was thinking about his hand, i thought he did have a set. You gotta think in ranges and not putting him on just a few hands that describe the worst case scenario. It's a common mistake made by a lot beginners and i don't even blame you for that but you gotta think of his entire range without narrowing it down to hands where you don't have any chance to win anymore. 8 is a terrible card and i think it's ok to lay down your hand but calling isn't that bad either.
